IN-Charge Electric Vehicle Program

In a new effort to spur the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles (EVs), NIPSCO has launched the IN-Charge Electric Vehicle Program, offering incentives to customers for installing an in-home charging station. This pilot program is designed to make it more cost effective and convenient for current and prospective electric car owners to install a home charger.

The IN-Charge Program is available to current NIPSCO electric utility customers who own or plan to purchase an electric vehicle. Participants will receive an instant credit of up to $1,650 toward the installation of a residential electric vehicle level 2 charger, and free charging between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily.

By helping develop a larger charging network in the region, the IN-Charge program reinforces NIPSCO's commitment to sustainability and to improving local air quality.

NIPSCO has partnered with 350Green, a developer of EV charging station networks, to administer the program. The program is being offered as part of a Supplemental Environmental Project under the NIPSCO New Source Review NOV settlement and is effective through January 31, 2015 or until funds are exhausted.

How Soy Biobased Products Benefit the U.S. Economy
The U.S. soybean industry is an American success story
Across the nation, U.S. companies now offer hundreds of biobased products, ranging from cleaning supplies to carpet backing to energy efficient roofing materials, made with ingredients grown right here on American farms. Each year, U.S. soybean growers plant about 75 million acres of soybeans, offering an abundant and rapidly renewable source of ingredients that are helping revitalize U.S. manufacturing.

How Much Oil Can We Save?

Since EVs and PHEVs can run off electricity, they have the potential to reduce our collective dependence on crude oil. GE has estimated how much gasoline we can save over the life of a vehicle.

Even better, as electricity generation benefits from green technology, so will the carbon footprint from EV's.  Now that's good news.
