Underwriters Laboratory (UL)
has simultaneously issued
certifications to both the Gilbarco Veeder-Root EncoreŽE85
dispenser and the Dresser Wayne Ovation ŽEco fueling E85
dispenser. These fuel pumps are now completely certified and approved
dispensing any range of fuel ethanol from E0 through E85. Learn more.
Ethanol Energy Balance Study:|
The US Department of Agriculture
has issued its "2008 Energy Balance for the Corn-Ethanol
report, and the findings are good news. It concludes that ethanol has a
net energy gain of up to 130 percent, that corn yields are up (on the
number of acres) nitrogen fertilizer use is down, and many ethanol
adopting greener and cleaner methods of generating energy and operating
efficiently. The USDA report is getting good press, like this article in the Star Tribune.
This years Summer Intern is...|
We would like to welcome our newest intern, Mitch Hanak! Mitch will be a
sophomore at Indiana University in the fall, where he is studying
business and informatics. He will be interning with SSCC for ten weeks and all of us at SSCC are glad to have him on board. In his free time, Mitch keeps himself busy with a broad range of
hobbies and interests, including cycling and singing. He also plays on
IU's Ultimate Frisbee team.
International Airport's use of alternative fuel and advanced
vehicles is the focus of this week's Clean Cities success story. The
airport uses a variety of vehicles in its fleet, including natural
bi-fuel and electric vehicles. In addition, it recently added electric
mobility vehicles that are being used for traffic control.
