Ethanol Energy Balance Study:
The US Department of Agriculture
has issued its "2008 Energy Balance for the Corn-Ethanol Industry" report, and the findings are good news.  It concludes that ethanol has a net energy gain of up to 130 percent, that corn yields are up (on the same number of acres) nitrogen fertilizer use is down, and many ethanol plants are adopting greener and cleaner methods of generating energy and operating more efficiently.  The USDA report is getting good press, like this article in the Star Tribune.
