Check out Clean Cities E-tools!
Making Green Transportation easy.

The U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Program has been busy this year creating and improving online tools that help fleets and individuals access alternative fuels, vehicles, and fuel economy resources. If you haven't visited the national Clean Cities site recently you're missing lots of new resources that could help your clean transportation efforts. So, what's new?

Alternative Fueling Station Locator: Provides detailed info, including hours of operation, for fueling stations based on fuel type.

Fuel Properties Search: Ever wonder how certain alternative fuels stack up against one another? Use this tool to compare a variety of alternative fuels.

Light and Heavy Duty Vehicle Search: This tool helps you identify the right alternative fuel vehicles for you.

Natural Gas and Flex Fuel Calculators: Cost savings are key for bringing alt. fuel vehicles into your fleet (or garage). Use this tool to compare NGVs and FFVs to conventional vehicles.

TransAtlas: A web-based mapping tool that allows you to search nationwide or down to your location for multiple fuel types, vehicle type density, and other search options all at the same time.

Fleet Experiences Search: Find out how others have used alternative fuels and vehicles and how they fared. Search by vehicle category, fuel type, or fleet application.

These are just a sampling of all the new resources available from the national Clean Cities program. Visit http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/applications.html to try these tools and more.

Looking Ahead...
What's new in 2010

With 2009 drawing to an end, we are finalizing plans for the coming year. South Shore Clean Cities is focusing, more than ever, on our mission, to facilitate the creation of a sustainable alternative transportation fuel industry in Northern Indiana.
In an effort to educate and inspire our community and members, we will continue to keep you informed with informational emails, events, and web site updates, among others. Along with working toward our daily goal of achieving cleaner air, by reducing our dependence on petroleum through alternative fuel, clean vehicles, and fuel economy practices.
Please stay tuned from future updates to look forward too. If you are interested in partnering, or would like to receive additional information, contact SSCC @ 219-365-4289 or email @

The New Stars of Motor Week...could be you!

The nationally syndicated television program Motorweek, produced by Maryland Public Television, has begun a partnership with Clean Cities to highlight clean transportation projects across the country. Six episodes in the current season have covered fleets like the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
SSCC will be submitting local fleet suggestions to Motorweek for future filming, but we need to hear from you - our members - to share details of the great clean fleet projects you're working on.
Each Motorweek Clean Cities interview segment is about five minutes long and will feature the alternative fuel fleet.
Watch the videos online today to find your motivation - your fleet could be the star of the next Motorweek Clean Cities Segment! See the videos at http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/videos.html

Work Truck Show 2010 Offers Green Truck Solutions for the Real World

St. Louis (Dec. 15, 2009) --The National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) and CALSTART have joined forces to bring vocational fleet managers practical solutions for their "green" truck needs through an expanded Green Truck Summit, Green Truck Ride-and-Drive and dedicated exhibit space at The Work Truck Show® 2010 in St. Louis, MO.

Recognizing that environmental considerations are just part of the decision-making process for fleet managers when specifying new vocational trucks and equipment, the Green Truck Summit  is held in conjunction with The Work Truck Show, North America's largest work truck event. The Summit runs from 8:30AM to 5:00PM (followed by a networking reception) on Tuesday, March 9, and from 8AM to 12PM on Wednesday, March 10. The Work Truck Show and 46th Annual NTEA Convention take place March 9-12, 2010, at America's Center in St. Louis.

The Green Truck Summit features 25 educational sessions that provide information and ideas businesses can use in their truck fleets today, as well as a look forward to the technology of tomorrow. These sessions are presented by industry leaders, government officials, and manufacturers, as well as fleet managers who share their real-world experiences with "going green."
