Greetings!

 G2 and Doug at IDEA

Welcome to February's Newsletter.  Thank you for all your feedback last month!  Our new Tweaking the Technique section has received great reviews.  In addition, your enthusiasm to Gary's webcast on the NEW 2011 format was much appreciated.  Registrations for the new Chain Reaction 3D seminars have dramatically increased over the last thirty days.  If you are planning on attending, please be sure to register soon.  We will also be launching the 2011 Functional Soft Tissue Transformation classes in March.  This month's practical application will emphasize REACHING or as traditionally called overhead presses.  Let's apply our authentic principles of function and see what we can do to fully enhance a traditional press movement.  Most of us realize clients / patients get injured due to repetitive strain.  By learning how to properly tweak, not only can we create an environment for healing, but also a stimulus for improved function.  Our goal is to stimulate, not aggravate.  Please see below for your practical guide this month.

Also, feel free to let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or comments on how we can better serve you. If you have an idea for a future topic, please contact Lenny Parracino at lparracino@gmail.com

Thank you.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Tweaking the Technique

Video Exercise Library Sh to OH LiftTweakology™ is the study of choosing and managing the most effective functional variables to create optimal functional environments for analysis, rehabilitation, prevention, and performance training and conditioning.  Our ability to effectively tweak is proportional to our understanding of human function.  Allow this practical section and your experience performing the movements below to act as a guide to understanding function.  To do is to know!

This month our highlight exercise is REACHING.  Reaching is another one of our foundational movements performed daily.  As you may have realized, it happens many different ways.  So, what way is the best way for you?  Try the following and search for your greatest success.  Building upon your success is a great strategy to improve your spectrum of functional movements.  If this spawns various questions, please send them to us and allow our experience to assist you in your exploration of function.  To start, perform an alternating hand reach from shoulder-to-overhead.  To view this movement > click here <. Then perform a same-side lateral, shoulder-to-overhead, alternating hand reach.  To view this movement, > click here <.  And now, perform an opposite-side lateral shoulder-to-overhead reach.  To view this movement, > click here <.

Now ask yourself, what reactions did I feel throughout the WHOLE body?  Did I move my hands too quick thus causing my torso to become stiff, or was it fluid and I felt my rib cage move therefore stimulating movement in my core?  Did I feel how a hand reach displaces my weight therefore changing the pressure distribution through my feet?  Could I use a hand reach to stimulate foot muscles in a rehab situation?

Just some thought provoking questions to explore your chain reaction experience.  In summary, the exercise of the month is REACHING and the tweak is ANGLES.  Enjoy!
