Greetings!
April is here already! For some, warm weather is here and here to stay. In other parts of the country it warms up and then, out of nowhere comes another storm as if its winter again. The transition between winter and spring is a lot like knee function. Just ask yourself; Have you ever felt your "stuck" in the middle with few places to go and no where to hide? Imagine being the knee, stuck between the hip and foot/ankle complex, constantly having to adapt to all structures that surround you. To explore this complexity in this month's TWO PART newsletter we will explore the knee joint and its chain reaction function. We are proud to have Dr. Brett Bloom start us off with an article based on the principles of Applied Functional Science entitled The Functional Knee, caught in the Middle with Few Places to Go and Nowhere to Hide. The technique section will share movements that emphasize knee function / ACL rehab / prevention. Then in part two (which you will receive later in the month) we will share knee research, discussion regarding research along with our favorite section; YOU ask the question, WE share our thoughts. So, if you have any questions please email them to Lenny Parracino @ lparracino@grayinstitute.com by April 17th. Thank you, we look forward to another exciting month! |

Technique(s)

April will emphasize the knee therefore we have selected techniques that place an emphasis on ACL rehab/conditioning. You will be exposed to a progression that Gary Gray has worked up to; for those looking to view his analysis, outcome and steps taken prior to this technique shown please view the Functional Video Digest titled ACL Prevention Threshold Training Volume 2.1. If you have any questions regarding how Gary reached this progression or concerns regarding this functional approach please email your questions by April 17th. Enjoy! .>VIEW VIDEO< |

Research Roundtable
Welcome to the research roundtable! This month our focus is on the knee complex. Much controversy exists in regards to "knee tracking", is it because we are following made up rules as opposed to thinking deeply about HOW the knee functions authentically? This month Gary Gray and Dr. Dave Tiberio discuss how to extract needed, practical information from research. Listen and ask, is the research saying the same thing as function is showing us? Just because there is injury in a specific plane due to too much motion, does this mean that we don't condition the person in that particular plane? Please listen to this thought provoking discussion. Enjoy. >VIEW VIDEO< |
