Glacier Ice Arena To Celebrate Ten-Year Anniversary

Vernon Hills, IL - Glacier Ice Arena will officially celebrate it's 10-year anniversary as the ice rink facility showcases figure skaters during a winter holiday ice show. The anniversary celebration will take place on Wednesday, December 30th at 7 p.m. and will include more than 75 figure skaters, ranging from children who are just learning to ice skate to highly competitive figure skaters.

Glacier Ice Arena is located at 670 Lakeview Parkway in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

Glacier opened it's doors in October of 1999 offering an extensive program of Learn to Skate classes for all ages, Glacier Hockey, one of Chicagoland's leading hockey instructional programs, and public ice skating.

"We have come a long way in the last ten years and we're very proud of the success of Glacier," said Chris Howarth, director of figure skating at Glacier Ice Arena and former 1980 Olympian for Great Britain. "We have experienced steady growth thanks to our seasoned staff members. Most recently, we added a synchronized skating team, Team Encore, which has been a valuable and fun skating experience for skaters."

The theme for the winter holiday ice show is "Celebrate." Skaters will be skating to songs about "celebration," as well as songs from the year that the ice rink was built, 1999.

"It made perfect sense to choose a celebration theme for this ice show since we are celebrating our tenth year in the Vernon Hills community," added Howarth.

The Glacier Ice Arena is Illinois' premier, state-of-the-art ice arena. Glacier features two NHL size ice surfaces. The Glacier website is www.glacierskate.com.
