dogsGreetings!
The final weekend of the 2008-2009 Ice Dogs Hockey League is upon us. At all levels, the game-play (competition) has been fierce and competitive and everyone is wondering who will be crowned this year's Mite, Squirt, and Pee Wee Champions.
The "Super Sunday" Championship Weekend is full of festivities and will include player introductions, individual awards, and new this year the "Most Improved Player" award will be given out to a member of each team. The winners of this award will be chosen by the coaches and Glacier Hockey staff.
In other IDHL news, the Ice Dogs Midget house team lost a heartbreaker in the NWHL playoffs 2-1 to Franklin Park to cap off a very impressive season.

Good luck to all of the participants and thanks for a wonderful hockey season!

AVALANCHE - SPRING CLINICS
Glacier Hockey prides itself in being the premier hockey training program in Illinois. We have proven to be innovators in skill development for the hockey players that train year round at the Glacier Ice Arena. Recently, the spring Avalanche Hockey teams participated in Skills Clinics run by 2 different NHL skills coaches. Tim Turk (Montreal Canadiens) and Besa Tsintsadze (Pittsburgh Penguins) thrilled all the participants and observers with high energy and challenging on-ice skills for the kids. It was amazing to see all the Avalanche participants pushing themselves to get better and show the NHL coaches their "stuff". What was truly significant for me was the amount of positive feedback that I received from both the participants and parents as to how thoroughly enjoyable the clinics were.

Glacier Hockey continues to set the standard for hockey training and skill development in Illinois. We are looking forward to another great spring and summer hockey season.

Thanks for your continued support.

CAPITALS FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON
The Capitals return home to Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills for the final time this season to host the Mosinee (Wisc.) Papermakers Saturday night at 8:20PM.
Mosinee (18-2-4) enters this weekend's contest in first place in the GLHL North Division and leads the entire league with 40 standings points. The only other time the two teams met this season, on December 26 in Mosinee, the Capitals quickly silenced Mosinee's boisterous crowd with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. But the Papermakers fought back to tie the game in the second period. The lead changed hands several times before Mosinee sealed an 8-6 victory with a third period penalty shot goal.
