What a week it has been so far for many of the Glacier teams and skaters and the excitement continues with appearances from the Chicago Blackhawks players and more State Championship games this weekend.

Brian Campbell was here last night and don't forget on Saturday 28th from 3:00 to 4:30pm Kris Versteeg and Duncan Keith will also be here to sign autographs.

Our thanks go to Jim and Steve's Postcard Shop which is located at 2909 Grand Avenue Waukegan who have made these appearances possible.

THE ICE DOGS KEEP ON WINNING!
Congratulations to the Squirt AA Elite Ice Dogs who captured 3rd place in the Squirt AA Blackhawk Cup State Championship last night with a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blues CSDHL team. The victory capped off a tremendous season that saw the Ice Dogs win the NIHL Presidents Cup as well as the NIHL Elite Championship. The team was coached by Ralph Menotti, John Meo and Brian Latal. The following skaters make up the Squirt Elite team:  Max Brainin, Cole Coskey, Mike Cutro, Nicholas Elsen, Timmy Fogliatti, Jeremy Forman, Andrej Hromic, Demetri Katsis, Jonathan Lakhani, Brett Latal, Matteo Menotti, Alec Schwab, Michael Vogel, Zachary Zentz.
 
Also this weekend the Ice Dogs Mite A, Mite AA and Squirt A teams will be competing for the Blackhawk Cup State Championship at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois. The Squirt A Black team will start the day off with a 930am game versus the Blues. The Mite A team will take on Winnetka at 1230pm followed by the Mite AA versus the Flames at 205pm. TEAM ENCORE WINS GOLD IN BENSENVILLE
This past weekend Glacier's Team Encore competed in their second competition of the 2009 season. Even the snow storm couldn't stop them from performing their best. The team skated perfectly at the Mardi Gras competition in Bensenville and came home with the gold medal.

ADULTS WIN MEDALS AT SECTIONALS
Erica, Cindy and Maureen competed at Midwestern Sectional, in Wyandotte MI last weekend. they had a great time and achieved some outstanding results.

Cindy Crouse will represent the WWFSC at the US Figure Skating Adult Championships (aka Adult Nationals) in Championship Gold Ladies and Maureen Linhardt is the first alternate for Championship Gold Ladies.
Erin Westphal went to Las Vegas to compete at Pacific Coast Sectional same weekend.

GLACIER SKATER EARNS "SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD"
Glacier skater Devyn Lerner, has been honored for her volunteer service with a state-level Certificate of Excellence from The 2009 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program.

Presented annually by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honor young people across America for outstanding community service activities.

Devyn has also received a President's Volunteer Service Award from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, which recognizes Americans who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country.

Devyn earned these awards by volunteering significant amounts of time in the field of special education.

"The recipients of these awards vividly demonstrate that young people across America are making remarkable contributions to the health and vitality of their communities," said John R. Strangfeld, chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial. "They truly deserve all of the praise and encouragement we can give them."
