Glacier Ice Arena Announces Thanksgiving Shootout Skates into the Glacier Ice Arena!
December 1, 2008. Again this year, over 45 teams skated into the Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills, Illinois for the 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Shootout. The Shootout, co-hosted by Glacier Hockey and the Ice Dogs Hockey Association, featured teams from all over Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri, and Wisconsin. The Shootout, which consisted of over 100 games, was held at 10 different levels from Mite A to Junior Varsity.
There was a championship atmosphere at the Glacier on Sunday which saw 20 teams compete for Banners at their respective levels. Several Ice Dogs teams captured a championship banner on Sunday including the Mite A Ice Dogs who defeated the Chicago Hawks 2-1 in overtime. The Pee Wee Ice Dogs Selects defeated the Sharks 3-1. The Squirt AA Ice Dogs stomped on the Huskies 5-2. The Pee Wee A Ice Dogs lost a close game to Kenosha 4-3 to finish in 2nd place. Also, the Ice Dogs Midgets lost to the Express in a heartbreaker 4-3.
