We are now taking enrollments for our Holiday Learn to Skate classes starting on October 28th.
There are several new classes for the new season including:

    * Power skating on Tuesday evenings after freestyle.
    * Extra time on a Wednesday evening giving us less crowded ice.

We have the most extensive Learn to Skate program that we have ever offered. Headed up by former Olympic competitor Chris Howarth assisted by Karen Nisenbaum, who has a wealth of experience working in the USFSA Learn to Skate program and is brilliant working with our younger skaters.

Greetings!

Last weekend saw the start of our house league and our travel teams were flying the Ice Dogs flag in pre season tournaments at the Big Bear  in Indianapolis and the MyHockeyRankings.com Challenge in Chicago.

Making the trip to Indianapolis were: The Mite AA, Mite A, Pee Wee A, Bantam AA and Bantam A. Playing in Chicago were: Squirt AA & Pee Wee AA Teams.

Well done to all the teams but particularly to the Mite AA who brought home the hardware, Pee Wee A for making the Championship game and both the Squirt AA and the Pee Wee AA for making the quarterfinals.

What a great start to the season!

Happy skating,
Chris

A good pre-season tournament for the Pee Wee AA

The Ice Dogs Pee Wee AA team travelled to Romeoville this past weekend to take part in a pre-season tournament. The tournament included teams from around Illinois and even as far away as Colorado so there was going to be some tough competition.

The first game was on Friday against the Huskies Hockey club from Illinois, and they got off to a great start with a win to start the weekend off. The Naperville Sabres were to prove a tough challenge to the Ice Dogs through the weekend beating them in their second game meaning the Ice Dogs needed a win in their last group game to move on to the quarter finals.

The third and last game took place Saturday evening after some team building at Buffalo Wild Wings. The opponent was the Atlanta Fire and the Ice Dogs rallied with their best game of the pre season to run away with a convincing victory. After some complex mathematics this set up a quarter-final re-match against the Naperville Sabres early Sunday morning at seven bridges ice arena. The game was scrappy with many penalties, and the Ice Dogs were defeated in a close game by a 3-2 margin.

Overall the weekend was a great success for the Pee Wee AA team, despite not getting to the championship game the boys always fought hard and never let their heads go down. It was a great team building weekend, even though there is a long road ahead the team is moving in the right direction and are looking forward to a very successful season.
