AMS Catechist Certification
Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA
All catechists serving in our Catholic Religious Education programs are to be certified as catechists by the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.  This includes the Coordinator of Religious Education, the Catechist (RE instructor - including First Communion and Confirmation), RCIA Team Members and Youth Ministry leaders and volunteers.  The self-guided training has five tracks which may be done in small groups or individually.  Catechists that successfully complete the process may be issued an AMS Catechist certificate.  There is also a special track for those who may have received certification as a catechist from a civilian (arch)diocese.  Log on to the web site of the Military Archdiocese for further information to begin the process of certification.

Catechetical Sunday 2008
The theme for Catechetical Sunday 2008 is The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church.  Resources to celebrate Catechetical Sunday are available online from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.  Consider how your community affirms, supports and celebrates the work of Catholic catechists and Catholic school teachers as they share the gift of faith.
