Dear Friends,
After nearly two and a half amazing years, I am leaving Catholics Seeking Christ. I want to thank everyone that I have met, Chaplains, CSC Leaders & Mentors, Chapel staff -- everyone -- for your enthusiasm for evangelization and young adult ministry and for your great hospitality to me. My last day with the CSC office will be May 31. I will be taking the summer off, and this fall I am entering the seminary to study for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. Please keep me in your prayers. You and CSC are in mine.
God bless,
Pavel |
After the Papal Visit...
The recent visit of the Holy Father to the United States presents a unique opportunity for reflection. Consider discussing the Pope's message during group discussions. Video and text of the Holy Father's presentations may be found online.

Leaders Trained at Mildenhall RAF and the USAF Academy
This Spring, CSC took to flight in the Air Force in a big way. We trained a new team of Leaders at Mildenhall RAF Base in England, our second expansion into the UK. At the beginning of May, we trained several Leaders at the Air Force Academy: several 'firsties' (seniors) who will take CSC with them after they graduate and several others who will stay at the Academy to train next year's cadets.
Keep these newly trained leaders in your prayers!

Where They Are Now: Leader Rachel Sherburne
LT Rachel Sherburne, a Public Affairs Officer in the Air Force, was in the first-ever CSC training over three years ago. She was deployed to Camp Victory in Baghdad last year, where she began a CSC group. Our congratulations go out to Rachel as she graduates with her Masters in Organizational Leadership this Saturday, May 10th, from Regent University. For her final project, she created a 9-minute video about her experiences while deployed and how her faith was and continues to be her strength and motivation to lead by serving.
You can view the video on YouTube by following the link below. Leaders -- consider using the video to start or add to small group discussions about leadership, service, and faith.

Carrier: Life Aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz
The 10-part PBS series Carrier followed the 2005 deployment of the USS Nimitz to the Persian Gulf. It is character-driven, to show what deployed life onboard a carrier is like, and focuses on military issues and personal issues for those on board, including faith. Full episodes may be watched online or purchased on DVD. The series may be a good starting point for small group discussions about issues faced on deployment and how faith can and does make a difference. http://www.pbs.org/weta/carrier/

About Us Catholics Seeking Christ (CSC) is a movement among young adult Catholics who are striving to know Christ and follow him in their lives, particularly within their vocation of serving their country in the armed forces.
CSC groups, comprised of 8-10 Catholic young adult military personnel, meet together regularly for discussions about faith, as well as for prayer and fellowship. Groups are led by young adult peers who receive training, resources, and continued guidance and support from the Office of Young Adult Ministries of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
