Feast of St. Bartholomew
24 August 2007

Greetings!

One day, Jesus and Satan were arguing. And the Father decided to settle it with a competition. Jesus and Satan were to produce reports on their computers detailing who was right. Our Lord performed miracles on his notebook, while the devil gave the computer hell. They did spreadsheets, powerpoints, sent e-mails, attachments, and wrote page after page. At the end of the day, lightning flashed, thunder rolled around the heavens--and the power went out.

"D#$%!" yelled the devil. "I've lost everything!" Meanwhile, our Lord rebooted and printed his report.

"Not fair!" the devil yelled. "I've lost all my work, and He's still got a report! Why?"

"Well," replied the Father, "Jesus saves!"

Okay, it's not the best joke, but it makes the point.  We're at war--a spiritual war. The devil is working hard to damn us to hell. But we have a Savior.

So let's tell others about our Savior, so that they can be saved too.

God bless,
Pavel

P.S. Yes, it was a lousy joke. Here's the challenge: if you've got any better Catholic jokes--or worse ones--send them to me, and I might use them in an E-News.

P.S.S. We're looking for testimonials of how CSC has affected you. If you've got something nice to say about Christ working in your life through CSC, write to me. We'll put it on our website.

St. Bartholomew, by Bernardo Pinturicchio, 1454-1513Asia Training
Today is the feast day of St. Bartholomew and a great day to announce that Catholics Seeking Christ expands to Asia.

St. Bartholomew was one of the twelve Apostles that Jesus trained to found his Church. While St. Peter and St. Paul went west to Europe, St. Bartholomew traveled east from Jerusalem to establish the Church in Asia.

In September and October, we will establish CSC at installations in Japan and Korea. The last week of September, I will train troops at Misawa, Japan. The following week, I'll be at Atsugi, Japan, and the week after that training near Seoul, Korea.

If you are interested in being a part of any of these trainings, please contact me ASAP at csc@milarch.org
.

Please pray for our trainees! Starting CSC is not always easy--as you know--and your prayers and sacrifices will help our newly trained and commissioned leaders.

Keesler Training
Hurricane Katrina might have devastated the Gulf coast of Mississippi, but nothing seems to be stopping the CSC leadership team at Keesler AFB in Biloxi.

In early August, I was invited to train some Airmen and show them how to use the Remote Training DVD to train others at their base. Joining Carmen Andrews and Willie Jacobo at the training was Jennie Janeczko, who was trained last year at Ramstein. The team is rounded out by Julien Martinez, trained at Camp Pendleton, last year. It's great to see folks being trained, PCSing, and joining CSC at other installations! That's how CSC will spread--and how leadership ideas and experience can be shared.

About Us
Catholics Seeking Christ (CSC) is a movement among young adult Catholics who are striving to know Christ and follow him in their lives, particularly through their particular vocation of serving their country in the armed forces.

CSC groups, comprised of 8-10 Catholic young adult military personnel, meet together regularly for a discussion about faith, as well as for prayer and fellowship. Groups are led by young adult peers who receive training, resources, and continued guidance and support from the Office of Young Adult Ministries of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.
