Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery is proud to celebrate our ninth Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) exhibit. This is a wonderful exhibit celebrating this colorful and loving holiday of Mexico. The exhibit hosts a room of installation ofrendas created by local artists and families as well as a display of Day of the Dead inspired works of art. Experience the celebration, memory, love and creativity, and be part of this amazing event! The opening is free but donations are always welcome.

DAY OF THE DEAD STREET FESTIVAL
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2-10PM
Experience the best Day of the Dead festival in Kansas City! The festivities last all evening and are perfect for the whole family. Watch live entertainment including musical and dance performances. Enjoy delicious foods from local vendors. Buy wonderful handmade gifts from local artisans and come to the gift shop to see the treasures from Mexico! Plan fun games in our kids carnival and participate in contests to win great prizes. View the wonderful artwork and exhibit of altars.

SKELETON MARIONETTESSATURDAY, OCTOBER 11, 10AM - 12PM
Make a funky skeleton marionette! Take some play, a bit of fabric, add string, and soon your skeleton will be ready to party for Day of the Dead.

This fun holiday workshop will teach you how to make a variety of skeletons, sugar skulls, skull bead neacklaces and more!

Come create your own small, personalized altar using traditional colors and symbolism of Day of the Dead. Please bring in photos and small objects and we will provide a wood base and many fun decorating materials.
