"La Loterķa: Arte y Adivinanzas" (Loterķa: Art and Riddles) is the third installation of Loterķa inspired artwork at the Mattie Rhodes Art Gallery. For the exhibit artists are challenged to take the images and riddles of La Loterķa and create their own interpretations.
Claiming roots in sixteenth century Europe as well as Aztec traditions, Loterķa is a popular Mexican game similar to the American game of Bingo where not only numbers but images are on each card. The game is popular in Mexico today and its images frequently appear in many pop- culture areas. Each player in Loterķa has a game board, or tabla, and covers the images on the board as they are called. Rather than speaking the name of the image, the caller gives the players corresponding poems or riddles.
