Happy Holidays from all of us at
Save The Animals Foundation!
Dear Friend of STAF,Logo

As 2010 comes to a close, we just want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for all that you do for STAF. Your involvement and support has let us continue our mission which is that every life is worth saving.

We've shared with you some stories through our 'Resident Spotlight' articles.   You've met Stevie Ray, our 7-year-old, almost blind, slightly overweight rottie who was on death row at a county shelter. There was Peanut who was found lying in the middle of the road - taking a nap!  There's Eden who, after three years in her adoptive home, her owner got engaged and Eden got dumped for a bride-to-be who simply did not like dogs. She found herself back at STAF, deserted but not alone as every volunteer told her, "That guy's loss."

You met Big Mac who was found wrapped in a discarded bag, in a McDonald's dumpster. There was Astrid who came to us 9 years ago .. with her 9 kittens.  Remember Aimee who was dropped off in a carrier at STAF's door, thin and with an upper respiratory infection, and Elyse who came to us as a tiny kitten with pneumonia - both who fully recovered.

You've supported us through your donations, joining us at our annual spaghetti dinner and silent auction, taking time to visit us during an open house, played bingo with your friends or dropped off your pennies. Because of your friendship and support, we've been able to help thousands of dogs and cats and with your continued help; we plan on helping thousands more.

On behalf of all the animals and volunteers, thank you for being part of the STAF family!

Wishing you and your families a warm and wonderful holiday season,

Tina, Teagan, The Taco Bell Family and all of us at Save The Animals Foundation
Resident Spotlight - Tina & Teagan

Before coming to STAF over a year and a half ago, these girls endured what can only be surmised as a terrifying life. Like many survivors, they are still overcoming the scars from their past, but they've blossomed with love and patience from their STAF volunteers. While they once cowered in their crate, afraid to come out and take a chance, they are now front-and-center any time there is attention to be given!

It took some time for them to come around to their foster family, but they've proven that they can overcome their hesitation, and they repay (with interest!) all the love they've been given.  These low-maintenance girls, who should be adopted as a dynamic duo, are happy with an occasional romp around the yard, a tender nuzzle, and a kind word. They deserve a family to call their own. Won't you take a chance on Tina and Teagan? They promise to keep your lap warm, your smiles constant, and your heart content.

Tina and Teagan stay with their foster home and are not at adoptions. If you would like to meet these sweet girls, please e-mail mlshar07@yahoo.com

Resident Spotlight - The Taco Bell Family

Pictured: Burrito and Tamale, with Gordita watching over them, and Taco Belle sleeping below

The family was found in a Taco Bell parking lot in late July when the six kittens were only two weeks old.  We think that someone must have dumped them there since it was such an open and unusual spot.  Mom, Gordita, was extremely thin and having trouble feeding the litter, but doing her best considering she was only about 11 months old herself.  After being found, the family was rescued and brought to a foster home.  Thanks to a steady diet of decent food and lots of love, the family started to thrive.

Now the family is living at STAF, and the kittens are everything you want in a kitten: playful, bouncy, affectionate, out-going, and of course, adorable.  Little Taco Belle (calico) is mama's girl and loves to cuddle with Gordita all she can.  Gordita keeps them all clean and loves to lay in the middle of her little family and watch the babies play.  Burrito (orange and white) and Salsa (torti with white patch) are too smart for their own good.  They both love to hide the toys and find them later when everyone else is asleep. Burrito and his near-twin brother Tamale are the show-offs of the group.  They just love attention and want to be the center of it!  Chilito (orange) and his sister Chalupa (torti) are the more laid-back of the family, content to be snuggled in while their orange and white brothers fight for the spotlight.  They're all still kittens though, and are guaranteed to have tons of energy in between naps.

Wouldn't you like to adopt a couple Taco Bell kittens to spice up your home this holiday season? Stop by during STAF adoptions on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturdays from 1:00-4:00pm.
