 RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - SUGAR FOOT
Sugar Foot is still just a kitten, but she has already had a very eventful life.
She was living with her stray cat friends in Reading when a hawk thought she might make a tasty meal. Luckily for Sugar Foot, the hawk dropped her! While recovering from her near escape from the hawk, she was picked up by a husky! Somehow little Sugar persevered and once again made a narrow escape. She may be down to 7 lives now, but she has made a speedy recovery at STAF thanks to the love and care of the volunteers. Her orange eyes are very endearing, and all four of her little feet are white, like she walked through sugar. She loves to be scratched, but is still a little shy about being held (which is not a surprise due to her history). She is thankful to be with her friends at STAF, but could be even happier to find a nice, calm, loving home to lounge away the rest of her life safely. Maybe she would even fatten up a bit! Interested in meeting this sweet girl? Then stop by during STAF adoptions on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm, and Saturdays from 1:00-4:00pm.

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - FRANKIE
Meet Mr. "Unadoptable." For seven years, Frankie lived his entire life cooped up inside a hoarder's filthy, cluttered house with only a narrow path from kitchen to dining room. The living room was his bathroom. When his owner became too weak from Alzheimer's to even pick up after him, the situation went from bad to worse ... and she finally agreed to give Frankie up to an acquaintance who had been trying to get him out of these deplorable living conditions for several years. But the fight to save Frankie wasn't over yet. His rescuer contacted a local no-kill shelter who agreed to take Frankie, pending temperament testing (which he passed with flying colors) and a vet evaluation. The rescuer was shocked when they deemed him "unadoptable" due to his age (seven) and his condition--no muscle mass from lack of exercise, along with a urinary tract infection and salivary gland infection. They offered to euthanize him right then and there.
Fortunately (again!) for Frankie, his rescuer still did not give up on him. She consulted with three other vets, all of whom said that his blood work was fine, his infections could be treated, and that he was in amazing shape, considering his past. One of those vets referred her to STAF, where Frankie is now anxiously awaiting his forever home ... one where he can stretch his legs out, both inside and out. This extra-large shepherd mix is sweet, gentle and easy-going. Surprisingly, considering his past, he seems to be immaculately housetrained. Not so surprisingly, he relishes his time out in the fresh air and sunlight. His strength and endurance is building with every walk he takes. Got room in your home for 120 pounds of handsome? Stop by and meet Frankie. He loves to have visitors! Adoption hours are Thursdays, 6:00-8:00pm, and Saturdays 1:00-4:00pm.
