RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - STEVIE RAY
A 7-year-old, almost blind, slightly overweight rottie. OK, maybe not the typical profile of a dog you would expect to be pulled off death row of a county shelter. But then again, here at STAF we often levitate towards the underdogs. Besides, Stevie has the "It" factor, as he reminds you every time he lumbers over and plops his big ol' head into your hand to make sure you pet him. His official theme song is "Feelin' Groovy." ("Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last!") The guy goes through life at a leisurely 2mph pace, loving every human he meets, soliciting butt rubs and lounging around, listening to the footsteps of people passing by. (Stevie's version of stopping to smell the roses.)
Despite cataracts and possible detached retinas, Stevie seems aware of shadows and light and gets around just fine without bumping into things, so we believe he has some vision. (Or excellent sonar.) A walk with Stevie is a Zen lesson in appreciating the here and now. I once took him to Alt Park. When he realized we were headed back to the car, he laid down and there was no getting him to move. Then he fell asleep, snoring. He did that four more times before we finally made it back to the car.
Stevie's dream family would live in a house on a busy street, with a front porch where he could sit next to his humans for hours, listening to the world go by, loving life and feelin' groovy. If you or someone you know has room in your heart and home for a big, mellow lug like Stevie, he would love to meet you. (Actually, he would love to meet you regardless!)
Adoption hours are Thursdays from 6-8:00pm and Saturdays from 1-4:00pm. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - AIMEE
About a year and a half ago, someone couldn't take care of me anymore and dropped me off in a carrier at STAF's door. I was very thin and had an upper respiratory infection, but thanks to my new friends at the shelter, I recovered completely... Maybe even a little too well. I'm definitely not thin anymore! I've grown into quite the curvy little woman - The vet says I'm in great health, even if I am a little chubby. Before I came to STAF I was a house cat, and would love to be one again! My front paws are declawed, so I promise to take good care of your furniture, outside of leaving some grey fur on it! I would also love to help you with your household chores, but be careful, I may suddenly, and without warning, throw myself down in front of you and demand belly rubs! I love belly rubs, and all rubs really, but sometimes it might be a trap.... I'll lure your hand to my belly, then latch on and play attack! I hope you'll come meet me in Room 26 and see if I'm the right fit for your home. I would be so happy to have a new home with a comfortable place to sleep and a human friend to rub my big belly!
If you'd like to meet Aimee, stop by during STAF adoptions on Thursdays from 6-8:00pm or Saturdays from 1-4:00pm. |
