Our Resident Spotlights this month are very special. You're going to fall in love with Doxy and our Cowboy Kittens.

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - DOXY This cute little guy has a very sad story to tell. Doxy lived with the same owner since he was born in 2001, but his owner recently had to enter a nursing home and was no longer able to take care of him. As if that part of the story weren't sad enough, due to permanent damage to his optic nerve, Doxy is almost completely blind. Doxy is a Dachshund/Terrier mix, and is a very friendly little guy that is more than content to lie in your lap. He can often be found roaming in our cat area where he has proven that his blindness doesn't slow him down or keep him from exploring.
Doxy is a very sweet, kind boy that will need some extra special care and love but will give it right back in return. Could you be that special someone for Doxy? Then stop by during STAF adoptions on Thursday's from 6:00-8:00pm or Saturday's from 1:00-4:00pm to meet this special guy. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - COWBOY KITTENS
Finally, the fall breezes have started blowing that crisp air through our windows, pumpkins, corn stalks, and mums are decorating town squares and stores, and kids are starting to discuss their Halloween costumes. At STAF, we have a group of Siamese kittens masquerading as cowboys. While they are not packing any firearms nor do they come with their own horse upon adoption, they are a rootin' tootin' good time and I am fairly certain that they meow "Yippie Kai-Yeah!" Billy the Kid, a flame-point longhair, is the leader of this merry band of outlaws when it comes to grabbing human attention first with an outstretched paw or snagging the best toy. His partner in crime is none other than his cross-eyed blue-point brother, Jesse James, who loves to snag a pipe cleaner out of your hand quicker than a jack rabbit. Wyatt Earp, another blue-point, but with white feet, has tossed his badge aside and thrown his lot in with the outlaws. The Sundance Kid, a short-haired flame point, rounds out this group of thrill seekers although he, like Wyatt Earp, likes to get the lay of the land first before jumping into the melee with all four paws. Amongst the rough and tumble, is the sole contemplative outlaw, Butch Cassidy, a buff long-hair. He is much more calm, cool and collected when compared to his wild brothers and more apt to want to snuggle than play at first. Although once play begins, he tosses his thoughts aside and with guns blazing, pounces into the maelstrom most likely set off by Billy the Kid. This Wild West Show can come to your home in the near future and while you do not have to take the entire show, the STAF adoption sheriffs recommend a pair of outlaws go to each home. Interested in meeting these cute cowboys? Then stop by during STAF adoptions on Thursday's from 6:00-8:00pm or Saturday's from 1:00-4:00pm.
