RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - DR. LANDU It is September, which means back to school, open windows with fragrant fall breezes, football, and the return of favorite television shows and the start of potential favorites. STAF has a new character in our fall line-up...the dashing Dr. Landu, who has made veterinary medicine exciting! He was brought to an area veterinarian for neutering, but this local hero immediately recognized that this handsome orange tabby had more pressing issues.
Dr. Landu's right rear leg had been mangled in some fashion causing his hip to dislocate, ripping the tendons, ligaments, and muscle and causing the entire leg to shrivel and be of no use. No worry, this dashing fellow is tough as steel, adapted to the injury, and came to STAF as a big, loving, purring fellow who wanted nothing more than a good meal and lots of attention.
At the end of August, Dr. Landu had the entire area surgically removed and is recovering nicely in our vet room. He is eager to explore and loves nothing more than convalescence calls from his favorite volunteers, which involves him snuggling up to you, rubbing his round face against yours, and looking for an opportunity to go explore. He is also quite the gentleman with other cats at STAF as he gives them a happy head nod of hello versus a hiss and a paw slap.
Dr. Landu will be ready for a great home soon where he can explore at will and curl up next to his human and other furry brothers and sisters. Come meet Dr. Landu during STAF adoptions on Thursday's from 6:00-8:00pm or Saturday's from 1:00-4:00pm. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - BONNIE BLUE
Bonnie Blue was one of a litter of pups born three years ago (8/06) on a farm where the humans chose to kill unwanted pups rather than have their dogs spayed and neutered. Bonnie was lucky ... a friend of the family smuggled her out and that lucky little pup grew into a beautiful, playful, sweetheart of a dog.
Sadly, three years later, Bonnie's luck ran out. Her mom was expecting a little one of her own, and didn't have the time and attention to give Bonnie anymore.
This lovely, fluffy lady is housebroken, good with dogs, cats and kids (though she tends to shy away from the very young ones) and adores people. She knows 'sit', 'stay' and 'down'. Since coming to our shelter, she has had a bath (ahhh ... much better!), a nice visit to the vet, and many, many walks. (She's great on leash!) Everyone here loves Bonnie B, but she's ready to move on and move in with a family of her own. And a lucky family it will be. Come meet Bonnie during STAF adoptions on Thursday's from 6:00-8:00pm or Saturday's from 1:00-4:00pm. | |
