LEWIS UPDATE We just wanted to give everyone an update and let you know that Lewis had his first surgery.
Our veterinarian determined that it should be on his nasal cavity and during the surgery they found that Lewis had almost no breathing space left at all. The bullet had somehow entered through Lewis' nose, causing extensive damage in the nasal cavities, then settled in his shoulder. The surgery took several hours as both scar tissue and broken bones needed to be removed but Lewis did great and is recovering in his foster home. Lewis' vet has recently determined that he should not have the second surgery until his nasal cavity has completely healed. When he does have the surgery on his hip, we'll let you know and keep you posted on his progress. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - OBAMA
While there will be no fanfare, speeches, or balls to attend, the new Feline President at STAF is still very special. Obama, named for then primary candidate Obama, came to STAF nearly a year ago on a Tuesday, where our patriotic STAF President, Ms. Laughlin, tapped this little orange kitten with this big name. Feline Obama sees no need to overhaul STAF and the only stimulus package he will offer is one of endless affection. Obama does have a platform of good food, clean water, and endless nap time for all! He especially prefers napping next to a human or feline companion. Like his human counterpart, he is quite the charmer and has energy for ball chasing instead of speech making. This message was approved by Obama and his Room 13 campaign managers, Orville and Wilber If you would like to add a pet to your White House like the Obama's, come meet Obama during STAF Adoptions - Thursday 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, 1:00-4:00pm and look no further than this non-partisan cutie! |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - BEULAH
This month our spotlight is on Beulah, a 7 month old American Bulldog mix. Can you say "Sweet, Adorable, Gotta Have Her?" We're not sure how we end up with so many wonderful, sweet girls at our shelter but Beulah is one of the latest to steal everyone's heart who meets her. She had a rough start in life and what we want most for her now is to help her find her forever family. Beulah was adopted at 6 weeks old from a county animal shelter. Unfortunately, the family who adopted her knew nothing about pet care and left this precious puppy tied outside on a deck during the day, rain and cold or beating sun. At night (if she was lucky) her prison was a crate where she would stay whenever in the house. Not much of an existence for an animal, that's for sure. The family couldn't understand why Beulah was so excitable around their 9-month old baby and finally decided to give her away. The good news is that she landed at STAF where she's won the hearts of more than a few volunteers. She is very small for a bulldog and has one of the sweetest disposition's we've encountered. She's the first to sneak a paw out from behind the bars of her run for an extra pet or some much needed attention. She is still a puppy at heart and just looking for the right family to give her all the love and attention she so deserves. If you're looking to welcome an absolutely beautiful, silly, one-of-a-kind pup into your family, look no further - we've got your girl. Please stop by to visit Beulah during STAF Adoptions - Thursday 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, 1:00-4:00pm. | |
