As always, we love introducing you to our wonderful residents and we know you're going to enjoy meeting both Josephine and Bowser!
Thank you for all the support you've given us for the past 20 years - We hope to see all of you on the 17th! |

STAF MEMBERSHIP Are you committed to being part of the solution for dogs and cats in need of help, but aren't able to volunteer? Becoming a member of STAF is right for you! By becoming a member of the shelter, you directly provide for the care of the animals who make STAF their home. You make it possible for STAF to continue to assist animals in need, operate the Spay/Neuter Program to reduce the overpopulation of homeless dogs and cats, and continue to find permanent adoptive homes for as many animals as possible.
The attached flyer (STAF MEMBERSHIP FORM) explains all the different ways your membership donation provides support. Please consider helping Suzy Q and all her friends at the shelter by becoming a member of STAF. It will make such a tremendous difference in the lives of so many animals. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - JOSEPHINE
Josephine came to our vet as nothing more than skin and bones and a brown tabby instead of the beautiful silver tabby that she truly is. The vet and her techs rehabilitated her, but in the process discovered that she was FELV+. Because they know that the best place for FELV+ cats is STAF, Josephine was transferred. She now lives in sunny FELV+ room 21 with new pals Autumn, Mr. Wilson, and Daisy.
Josephine is the first to greet volunteers upon entry into the room because her favorite place is the tall shelf right next to the door. She has endeared herself to all the positive hall cleaners and medicators because she wants nothing more than to be cuddled against a human chest with her head below their chin or cheek, so she can rub her head and cheeks against a kind soul and just purr, purr, purr.
On my own recent cleaning day, I found myself snuggled up with Josephine for 20 minutes because her loving nature is so relaxing and it reminded me why STAF's mission is so important!
When you are at STAF next, take time to snuggle up with Josephine in room 21, who will show you her appreciation through purrs and cuddles for all the support you give to cats like her in the positive hall.
Interested in meeting this special girl? Then stop by during STAF adoptions - Thursday, 6:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday 1:00pm-4:00pm. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - BOWSER
All wagging tail and sunshine, this one ... a lover of life and humans ... a very entertaining guy. If he were human, he would probably be a stand-up comic, and for sure voted "most likeable" in his high school yearbook!
Bowser is a hoot, a real character, and absolutely one of a kind. Yes--he is as personable, fun and entertaining as he looks. (And of course handsome and photogenic, too!) We've been working on his manners (like all our dogs, he knows how to sit for a treat), but he's got a ways to go on the training front. (At the moment, what he lacks in social graces, he more than makes up for in personality.)
Bowser loves belly rubs, car rides and cool floors. He is perfectly house trained, letting you know when he needs to go. He's gentle, and great with kids and other dogs (cats--not so much). He can jump gates and climb fences, so he'd be best with a privacy fence, dedicated walkers/runners, or a home willing to supervise his yard outings.
Bowser was adopted by a loving family in 2007, but his favorite person was recently deployed to Iraq, and with the mom in the family working long hours to make ends meet, there simply wasn't time to give him the exercise and attention he needs-- so the family very sadly returned Bowser to us. He also needs to work on separation anxiety; this is a problem that can be overcome by a dedicated and dog-savvy family; the lucky family that puts in the time to help Bowser get over his fear of being left alone will be rewarded with a sparkling personality and a best friend for life! Interested in meeting this handsome boy? Then stop by during STAF Adoptions - Thursday, 6:00pm-8:00pm, and Saturday, 1:00pm-4:00pm. | |
