RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - HOOVER
If a cat can be compared to a big, soft, rolly-polly teddy bear, Hoover is that cat. Eighteen pounds of LLOOOOOVVE (insert Barry White's voice here), and a constant look of surprise - that's our Hoover!
Hoover came to STAF just over 6 years ago as an "only" kitten. Even as a baby, he had a soft heart, a tubby tummy, and the sweetest disposition you can imagine. He grew so quickly that the only thing that could lure him from cuddle time was the mere thought of food. He made a beeline for the tiniest of crumbs, sucking it up like a vacuum - hence his name. He loved to be held, but was always concerned that something new and spooky might be lurking around the corner. So his eyes were always wide and bright, his dog-like black nose twitched in anticipation, and he snuggled in close to the volunteer with the strongest arms.
Today Hoover is just as sweet and lovable, and has blossomed into a beautifully large and solid cat - he's not fat, he's just a big-boned...measuring almost 3-feet from nose-tip to tail-tip. And he still looks constantly shocked by whatever you say to him. It's an expression that always says, "WHOA!" He loves tummy rubs, but due to his healthy girth, prefers lap time to being carried. There's not a sweeter, or cuter, cat to be found! If you're looking for a truly unique and special friend, stop in to check out Hoover during STAF Adoptions - Thursday, 6pm-8pm, and Saturday, 1pm-4pm. |
RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT - LOLA
Lola has the most endearing silver eyelashes you'll ever see on a dog! But you forget all about her gray whiskers when you see her throw a kong for herself or wrestle with a rope toy. We get the feeling that she is making up for the puppyhood she never had . . .
Lola was found as a young, frightened, untrusting stray. During her time at our shelter, our patient and big-hearted volunteers taught Lola to accept and return the kind of love and affection she had never known before. Gradually Lola emerged from her protective shell, letting us all grow to know and love the sweet and silly girl underneath.
Today, Lola enjoys regular walks in the park, gazing out the window on car rides, romping in winter snow, and chasing lizards in the summer. After a good walk or play session, Lola likes to wind-down with a nice belly rub!
Lola is such a super "perker-upper." She greets volunteers at her door every morning, "smiling," ready to get the day started. It can't help but make you feel good! She is longing for a home with folks who have a sunny, silly streak of their own. Is that you? Then stop by to meet Lola during STAF Adoptions - Thursday, 6pm-8pm, and Saturday, 1pm-4pm. | |
