Focus On Fit
It's Not About The Number On the Tag
It's all about the fit of the garment, not the size on the
label that counts. The number on the tag should be a
reference to help you find the right fit; it should only be
used as a guideline. Concentrate on the look and
feel of the garment. Proper fit will allow your body to
flow and look pleasing, regardless of the size.
Each Designer Manufactures Differently
You
may be a size 12 in one line and a 14 in the next line.
Knowing what manufacturers have the right cut for
your figure type will help get the right fit for you. The
only way to discover what manufacturer is best for you
is to try things on. Take multiple sizes of the same
item into the fitting room. Try different designers and
manufacturers then note which ones are cut right for
you.
What Is Superior Fit ·No pulls,
gaps, or
bulges in the fabric
· Total freedom of movement even when
sitting
· No excess fabric
· Buttons, zippers, hook-and-eyes, should
close easily and not gap
· Proper length hemlines for pant, skirt, and
sleeve
· Bare skin should not be exposed with
movement
Can It Be Altered Minor alterations are
common. Generally, sleeve length, hemline, and
waistline are all easily done. Proper alterations will
make a big difference in the look and feel of the
garment. If you are not sure if alterations are
possible, take the garment to your tailor or wardrobe
consultant, he or she can tell you if it can be made to
fit you and what it will cost to do so. A good tailor is a
valuable person to know.
If you know you always need a particular alteration, for
example the sleeve or pant length, do not purchase
garments with embellishment or detail in that area. It
will have either be removed and replaced, or removed
permanently. This will add cost to the garment (only
to be discarded) or cost to the alteration (if it has to be
removed and replaced).
Save Time, Money and Frustration
Once you learn to take your mind off the size written
on the label, look for your best manufacturers, and
focus on fit; you will save time and money when
shopping. You won't be frustrated with a closet full of
clothes and nothing to wear because nothing fits.
Happy Shopping I wish you success in
your
planning and fun in your shopping so the result will
be your best image.
