 Recently I performed with Mally Lewis and
Lamb Chop, Joyce DeWitt, and Carla
Rhodes in
a a benefit for Fisher House at The Cutting Room in New York.
It was a
surreal moment, classic TV sprung to life! The highlight of the evening
was Joyce Dewitt. She beautifully sang a few songs accompanied (in a
rare stage appearance) by Cutting Room owner Steve Walter on guitar.
Backstage, after her set she kissed me on the cheek and gleefully exclaimed, "We all did so good, didn't we!" I think we did Joyce Dewitt, I think we did.

Sxip's Hour of Charm at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater on March 30th,
experimental circus composer Sxip Shirey creates a lush evening of
theatrical spectacle and provocative performance.
 Sxip's Hour of
Charm features your host and sonic manipulator Sxip Shirey. Sxip's
esoteric melodies paint a lush soundscape with stream-of-consciousness
instrumentation from his clutch of pennywhistles, obnoxiophones and
vibrato-tinged glass bowls.
Sxip stirs arresting performances
from New York's most absolutely unique and compelling live artists! Not only do we have the #1 rope spinning cowboy in the
united states, A.J. Silver. We have Butoh trained contortionist,
Johnathan Nosan, doing a double contortion act with the amazing Joseph
Putigan. The sexy, raunchy and sweet as all hell Greg Walloch is
presenting a new story. Erin Mckeown will sing to make you melt and
swoon. Reggie Watts, who is the love child of a dozen soul singers and
half a dozen human beat boxers totally deconstructs language and
communication and builds it back up again into a funky funky delicious
stew. Radio Wonderland, samples live radio and twists into
electro-funk. Sxip will be showing off what he learned at Mutant
Harmonica camp.
A long
standing favorite of Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, Sxip's Hour of
Charm is unquestionably mesmerizing, endlessly entertaining, and is
truly in a league of its own. |
