The Whittier City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers in Whittier City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend City Council meetings in order to stay informed about issues which affect those who live, work and play in Whittier.

Each meeting features an oral communications period during which the public can address the City Council regarding any item of City, Agency or Authority business, making it an excellent way to have direct communication with the officials who make things happen in our city.

As part of its local business stimulus plan, the City of Whittier is hosting a series of FREE business seminars to help businesses thrive in a struggling economy. The second of these seminars will take place Thursday, October 15 from 8 - 9:30 AM at the City Hall Council Chambers (13230 Penn St.).

The seminar, titled "Targeted Marketing: Capture Your Customers" will help attendees determine who their customers are, where to direct marketing activities and where and how one should allocate advertising and promotional efforts. Target marketing provides direction for all sales activities and guidance for other aspects of operational planning.

Responding to an ever-increasing need to offer business owners professional training, the Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce and Professional Career Education have collaborated to provide business owners FREE workshops to assist employers in strengthening their competitive edge by providing funds to offset the cost of skill-training.

The first of these workshops will be hosted at the Whittier Chamber on October 15th at 1:30 PM and will feature a beginners course on QuickBooks training. A very important aspect of the Whittier Chamber of Commerce mission is to provide the business community with educational opportunities such as the QuickBooks workshops. Each workshop will offer business owners the tools necessary to help run their businesses more efficiently.
