The Whittier City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 11 at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers in Whittier City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend City Council meetings in order to stay informed about issues which affect those who live, work and play in Whittier. Tuesday's meeting will be a joint meeting of the Whittier City Council, the Whittier Redevelopment Agency and the Whittier Utility Authority.

Each meeting features an oral communications period during which the public can address the City Council regarding any item of City, Agency or Authority business, making it an excellent way to have direct communication with the officials who make things happen in our city.

From 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, the Whittier Chamber will present its monthly Wake Up Whittier networking breakfast at SASSFA (10400 Pioneer Blvd. #9, Santa Fe Springs). This popular business networking event draws 200+ attendees each month and is designed to help businesses connect with other businesses and market their services to potential clients.

This month's breakfast is co-hosted by the Southeast Area Social Services Funding Authority (SASSFA) and the Los Angeles Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA). SASSFA offers services for those seeking employment, for youth, for businesses and for the elderly. L.A. CADA provides comprehensive substance abuse and HIV/AIDS services, helping clients change their lifestyles, build on strengths, recover from addictions, and improve their health.

Get a first-hand experience of the talented crew of RMH DanceSport Center in their newly remodeled studio! This popular ballroom and fitness dance center will be hosting an open house on Thursday, August 20 beginning at 4:00 PM.

Whittier Chamber representatives, City officials and community members will cut the ribbon on the remodeled studio at 4:00 PM. The dancers of RMH will showcase their talents at 4:30 PM and all attendees can take a sample class at 5:15 PM.
