The Whittier Chamber's monthly Wake Up Whittier networking breakfast will take place Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Whittier Community Center, 7630 Washington Ave. The event is hosted by the Whittier Public Library and catered by California Grill restaurant.

The Chamber's networking breakfast gives area businesses and organizations the opportunity to network in a fun, professional setting while learning about upcoming business events and great business news.

Soroptimist International of Whittier's annual Showcase of Stars: "Laugh Out Loud" is slated for May 6 at 6 p.m. at the Shannon Center for the Performing Arts (6760 Painter Ave., Whittier) This popular event takes on a retro twist this year as the local service organization invites you to "Laugh Out Loud" with an evening of laughs, prizes and important fundraising.

The event will feature exciting silent auction gifts, cocktails, and a hilarious showcase of local personalities caught in crazy antics. More importantly, the event will raise important funds that benefit local Soroptimist programs like the Sexual Assault Response Team, the Women's Opportunity Awards, the annual Youth Forum and the Success & Teens Conference, to name just a few.
