Assisted living community Whittier Place Senior Living will host a community open house and grand opening Tuesday, Dec. 2nd at 5 p.m. The community is invited to attend and learn about the caring service and comfortable living spaces provided by the new Whittier Place.

The Whittier Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting reservations and sponsorships for the the 11th Annual Silver Shield Awards Banquet. The event will be held on the evening of February 20, 2009 at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort (One Industry Hills Pkwy, City of Industry).

The Silver Shield Awards Banquet salutes the officers of the Whittier Police Department, honoring the brave men and women who have taken an oath to serve and protect our community. Whittier residents are invited and encouraged to attend this elegant evening and enjoy a full-course dinner and the opportunity to thank those who serve our community. Tickets to attend the banquet are $80 per person.
