GUT HEALTH AND IMMUNITY
Presented by Dr. John Yim
We often think of the gastrointestinal (GI) and immune systems as two distinct and separate systems. One digests food, assimilates nutrients, and evacuates wastes, while the other protects us from bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungal organisms, and cancerous cells.
However, a huge component of our immune system resides in the gut.
The largest interface with our environment occurs in the gut. If all the small and large intestines and all the villi and microvilli and crevices in the colon were pressed out flat, that surface area would be much larger than a tennis court. That is a huge area to police and protect from invaders.
In this free self-care talk, learn:
- A quick physiology lesson around GI function
- How the gut protects us from invaders
- Factors that break down the protective barrier that is the gut
- How to improve gut permeability
- How improving gut health improves overall immunity
- The single most important supplement for the gut and immunity
- How stress affects the gut and our immune function
- And so much more
