The Importance of Deleting SKU's
It has been  found that the Day Close, Inventory Productivity Report, Verify Item Listing, Stock Valuation, Price Listing, Key Indicator and Stock Item Status Listing all processed faster if a store turns on the utility to delete old ski's.  It is recommended that if a store has been on 6.8 for 3 to 4 years that they first set the utility to delete sold ski's older than 3 years, let the day close run and then the next day set it to delete skis older than 2 years.

In order to perform this, go to your Utilities icon on your server. Within that go to Store Utilities/Advanced System Settings. Check the box that says Delete Sold/Paid Unique & Consigned Items after (put in 3 years), save and close. You can do this any time during the day prior to running the Day Close.

It is important, as mentioned above, that a store does not set it to delete skis older than 2 years when first activating the utility.  Set it to 3 years first, run the day close as normal, then the next day set it to 2 years and let the day close run.  Otherwise the initial day close may not finish before business the next day. I recommend you do this on a Saturday and Sunday night.

Each of these  2 day closes(after the utility is turned on) will take most of the night to run. From then on however ,the Day Close will take less time to run as well as the reports mentioned above.

How much faster depends on how many skis are deleted.  In the test store, the utility deleted about 50% of the ski's which resulted in the reports processing about 50% faster then before the utility was turned on.

You may be asking will I loose any reporting data? You will not be able to look up history on the individual ski's, however all the sales information reported by category, subcategory, etc will be accurate.

Contact your FOM with any questions.

New Products

Easter is on March 23rd this year.  Make sure you are in stock and featuring spring accessories in those Easter outfit displays.  These accessories include hair bows & clips, purses, and hosiery.

There is still time to get basket items in as well.  Little Kids bubbles have always been best sellers for us during the spring Easter season.

Ty Easter Beanies are perfect add-ons for the season.  The cute factor makes them irresistible for Easter Baskets.  Basket Beanies are only $2.99 retail.

And the next generation of TY Beanie Babies has arrived!

This is the Ty answer to the Webkinz craze and it's perfect for Once Upon A Child in two ways.  First Ty wants to do business with us and second the Beanie Babies 2.0 have a lower retail $5.99 - $6.99!

Each new Beanie Baby 2.0 has a blue and gold lightning bolt button that tells you this Beanie is special.

Each Beanie 2.0 lives in one of four Habitats: the farm, the forest, the backyard, or the burrow.  Each habitat has its own chat room and games.  There's also a community center where you can meet "Mayor Bean," and get updates and information.  You'll also find more games and chat rooms here for even more fun!

Users get their own profile page with features such as a family flag, their hobbies & interests, a backpack full of stuff, and their buddy list!

The web site is a never ending story and not limited to basic elements such as naming and feeding your pet: chapter one starts the story, once you have completed chapter one, move on to chapter two and then chapter three, etc.  The fun never ends!

The spring season is a good reason for new shoes.  Bobux, one of our vendors for soft leather baby shoes for several years introduced their Ministar line to Once Upon A Child at our Trade Show in St. Pete Beach, FL.

Bobux shoes are made in New Zeeland and retail for $26.99.  The Ministar brand is manufactured in China but complies to the same safety standards as Bobux.  The Ministar line has been available only at Target until now.  Our cost is $6.50 and retail is $12.99 which is a better fit for the majority of our stores.

There is a 12 pair minimum on orders and styles will vary based on availability.  The Ministar program is posted on the extranet in new products / vendor programs /  Bobux.

Important note:  Due to the agreement Bobux has with Target, we are not allowed to advertise or sell Ministar on-line.  Please keep your promotional efforts to in-store only.
