A Quick Note from Jackie
It's hard to believe that summer is over and the days are getting shorter (if not cooler...)! Before you know it, the holiday season will be in full swing. For many of us, the fall is a time to enjoy squashes, casseroles, family gatherings and to prepare for the onslaught of temptations that come with celebrations of all sorts. I love these foods, and hope you'll enjoy the recipes in this newsletter as much as my family does. Our salt and sugar free spices make these dishes truly unique, and you can purchase them on the web or by calling your plan advisor.

Take a few minutes this year to make a wellness plan. Set three "SMART" (Specific, Measurable, Actionoriented, Realistic and Timed) goals to achieve before the year ends! There's plenty of time to accomplish short term, 60-day goals that relate to your nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle. Write them down for yourself, and if you care to, share them with someone who will help you be accountable for achieving them. Identify the obstacles to achieving each goal, and before you know it, you'll find a path to overcome each obstacle. Let me know how your season of progress develops, and how we, at NutriFit, can help!

One-Two-Three Quick n' Useful Tips
|
Trying not to overeat? Have a glass of water at least fifteen minutes before a meal. Not only will it contribute to your feeling of fullness but, often times we overeat if we are thirsty to get some of the moisture our bodies are craving. |
|
Starting your day with Starbucks? Skip the "whip" and save about 150 calories and half the daily allowance of bad fat. |
|
Check the label! When choosing artificially sweetened drinks, desserts, & goodies, steer clear of any that contain the poorly tested artificial sweetener acesulfame potassium and always, avoid anything sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. |
NutriFit In The Media
Here at NutriFit we feel very lucky to have had lots of media attention this year. NutriFit, and our meal service, has been featured on shows like Dr. Phil, The View and ABC News.
Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, In Style, Cookie and many other magazines all featured stories on us this year and we were totally taken by surprise when our friend Roselyn Sánchez, from Without A Trace, mentioned NutriFit in TV Guide and said she was using us to stay in shape. Elizabeth Rohm, from JAG and Jessica Alba followed suit telling People Magazine and US Weekly that they were using NutriFit to get in shape after their babies arrived. What can we say, we're flattered!

Be Thankful:
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I am reminded of a friend of mine, born and raised abroad, telling me years ago why he had fully embraced this great American holiday.
"Food, Family and Football!"
"But in all seriousness, Thanksgiving is the perfect American holiday" he continued. "Non-denominational, embraced by every creed and celebrated by every wave of immigrant to have graced these shores. Thanksgiving transcends class, religion, money and everything else to be about, simply, Gratitude." Well sure, what better reason for a holiday than that? And it turns out, being thankful is also good for your health.

Featured Client
We first met Patricia Resnick in the fall of 2007, when she approached us with a crazy proposal – something only a seasoned writer would pitch! Pat, author of the book, "9 to 5" and busy mother of 2, was ready to begin creating a musical stage play-version of her book with longtime friend Dolly Parton. Her goal was to lose 95 pounds by the opening of her play, about a year away from the date of our initial conversations.
