But first, let me welcome our new subscribers! This email comes twice a month and my goal is to give you something you can do TODAY to increase your business via the Web.

Find out EVERYTHING you need to know about your site and your competitors!
 
Whenever I begin to evaluate a client's Website, I always start at www.websitegrader.com. This fantastic site gives you great insight into how the search engines view your site and why they are determining where to rank you.

Some of the info they compile for you are:
  • All of your metadata including your title tag, description tag, and keywords. Don't know what these are? Then you didn't read eBoot Camp! :)
  • Image summary - you can tell google and the other search engines what the images mean on your site with text. For example, if you have a picture of a map on your site, you can have the "alt text" read "maps and directions" and that tells google what you are trying to accomplish with the image.
  • When your domain name will expire.
  • The last time Google crawled your site
  • How many inbound links you have - this is CRITICAL and is a major factor in how you are ranked in the search engines. See "link popularity" in the eBoot Camp book.
  • Your overall traffic rank
  • and more!
You can also see this same critical info for any of your competitors. It's like looking under the hood and seeing exactly what type of engine they have before you get on the race track.
