Dear Friends and Yoga Students,
Finally - the warm weather is here. Yippee!
Don't let the warm weather deter you from a heated yoga practice. In fact, summer is THE BEST time to practice yoga. You may have noticed already how much more naturally-open the body is during the warmer months. This is the time for DEEP practice and INTENSE benefits! So be sure to commit to a regular yoga practice this summer, you won't regret it. As a matter of fact, we will be starting ANOTHER Summer Vitality Revolution very soon, same as last summer(stay tuned). In honor of Summer Vitality, IFY is offering specials on the 3-month unlimited yoga packages as well as on a package of 3-one hour massages in order to support your wellness over the summer months (more info below).
Thank you all for joining us a few weeks ago for the Spring Abundance Celebration. It was so much fun and a huge success (check out the celebration photos at our gallery). Offering a silent auction turned out to be a brilliant idea (great job Carrie!) With a boost from Inner Fire Yoga, we are able to write a check to The Family Centers of Dane County for $3000 from the weekend's proceeds! The Intro to Yoga classes that we have had so far this year will add an additional $950! Wow! WAY TO GO ABUNDANT INNER FIRE YOGA COMMUNITY! Deep gratitude to all of you from all of us at IFY, and I'm sure from the children and families who benefit from The Family Centers. It will be necessary to work very hard next year in order to top this year's event.
Please take a moment to introduce yourself and say hi to our new Yoga Teacher Ruthie Goldman and Massage Practitioner Julie Willis. Welcome Ruthie and Julie! You can read about them in the newsletter below.
I look forward to seeing you in yoga class all summer long!
Keep yoga-ing!
Namaste, Marit

"I joined Inner Fire Yoga in 2006. I was searching for something to help me feel better both physically and mentally. IFY was the perfect place for me to be. My yoga practice has helped me to be stronger not only physically and mentally but also spiritually.
I have attended three "Revolution" series. They help to motivate me to stay on the mat. I find yoga really "grounds" me and gives me an inner peace. Having served the Postal Service for over thirty years (and counting) the serenity and peace yoga gives me is priceless. It really makes a difference in my attitude and wellbeing.
I want to thank Marit for the fantastic teachers at IFY and for the wonderful studio available for yoga practice. Michael is the best manager anyone could ask for.
Inner Fire Flow, Power Flow and Yin are my favorite classes. In the next Revolution series I take I plan on taking more Bikram classes."

Ruthie Goldman
Ruthie Goldman returned to yoga in 2005 after a 14 year break and came to her Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga practice in 2006. Ruthie landed in her first Baptiste Power Yoga class by accident, but immediately knew that this was the style of yoga for her. The physically and emotionally demanding Baptiste series continues to help her break through to her own courage, strength, and compassion. Ruthie's asana practice grew into a commitment to live her yoga, starting with a rededication to a mindful and authentic life.
Ruthie believes that when we find ourselves on our mat with nothing to prove, no judgments, no expectations, we can have a mind-blowing practice
which we can carry off of our mat and into our lives. She encourages every student to step on to the mat with an open-hearted curiosity to see what
today's practice will bring.
Ruthie attended the life-changing Level 1 Teacher training with Baron Baptiste in Maya Tulum, Mexico in October, 2008 and Assistant Training in November, 2008. She is excited to continue her studies with Baron and is looking forward to Level 2 Teacher Training. Ruthie is also exploring the freedom of AcroYoga and hopes to pursue further training with AcroYoga founders Jason Nemer and Jenny Sauer-Klein.
Ruthie will be teaching the Monday 12:30pm Power Flow (beginning soon), Saturday 5:00pm Inner Fire Flow, and the Sunday 6:30pm Power Flow classes. |

| Welcome Julie Willis!
The very first time Julie received a professional massage was many moons ago during a period of "disconnect" from her body. The therapist had her write on a card something that stood out from the session. For her, it was an image of an albatross-like bird that was nearly dead from drowning, being lifted from deep waters to safety by the therapist's hands. The second professional massage gifted Julie with an image and sensation that has stayed close to her heart always: towards the end of the massage, she had a sense of floating gently through outer space with a message of, "This is your Universe-explore it." And the third professional massage left her feeling harmonious, balanced and completely at peace. She walked out into the sunshine and the world and thought, "This is my natural state. This is how we are meant to feel. Everyone deserves to feel this!" Five years later, she is happy to say she has graduated from TIBIA Massage School's 700-hour
program and is thrilled to partner with Inner Fire Yoga Center for Wellness. The first thing Julie can remember being really fascinated by was the human body. When she discovered in the World Book Encyclopedia the plastic pages of the body's layered tissue systems, her love of body-related "a-ha!" moments began. She spent all of her childhood and teen years practicing gymnastics, which constantly required forging new movement patterns and trusting one's placement in space. She is grateful to have linked with Inner Fire, wondering how she made it through her first two Wisconsin winters without the nourishing heat, humidity and sweat! of Bikram Yoga.
"A Georgia peach who chooses to reside in Wisconsin by all means MUST have an inner fire..."
Julie's intentions in providing bodywork and massage are to support the body's natural capacity to heal and align itself, to aid in recognizing limitations and safely facilitate moving beyond them, to listen closely and wholly to the client, and to respect the totality of the person. Julie draws from her experience in Swedish Therapeutic, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Sports, Acupressure and Energy Modalities to provide a personalized massage for each client.
"The body is amazing. Its intelligence and commitment to health and balance is phenomenal. I had more 'religious moments' taking notes in Anatomy and Physiology class last year than in just about anything else. I believe that the possibilities for wellness and healing are endless."
Aside from bodywork and yoga, Julie also loves animals, the outdoors, dancing, laughing, kids, travel, reading and writing.
