Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra
Presto! Holiday Concert
Saturday, December 19
Awarded 2008 Youth Orchestra of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras, the SYSO has brought symphonic music to the community and throughout the world for 20 years.
The exceptional ensemble of 65 young musicians will present a program of holiday favorites, from old folk melodies such as Greensleeves to classical works including Waltz of the Flowers from the Nutcracker and Bizet's Farandole from L'Arlesienne. Other works include Sleigh Ride, a German Carol Festival and music from Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel.
The 11-member choral ensemble Jubilus joins the orchestra for selected pieces, including "Fum, Fum, Fum," "Festival of Carols," and a Grinch Medley. |
