Screen Test 2010
The Chicago Area's Premier Student Film and Video Fest Gears Up for 2010.

Greetings!

The movies keep getting better, the audiences bigger and the exposure more far-reaching.  Films including stop-action animation, WWII battle recreations, and parodies of epic proportions by students in grades 5 - 12 show an early talent with boundless potential.  And it's back, ready for a new crop of trail-blazing works by the best young filmmakers around.

This is Screen Test 2010.

A New Toe-Tapping Category  Song and Dance

Who doesn't love seeing a film character spontaneously break into song?  It worked in Singin' in the Rain, West Side Story, Grease, Sweeney Todd, Hairspray and countless other memorable film musicals.  Now here's your chance to create your own musical number and possibly have it shown at Screen Test where it will compete for prizes.

The Song & Dance category place emphasis on music as the driving narrative force of the film.   Think of your film as a short story where some or all of the dialogue is replaced by singing and/or dancing.

Please note that a Song & Dance film is not a taped concert performance, nor is it simply action set to a song, as often seen in music videos.  We're interested in mini-musical numbers, with original music, interacting performers, creative shooting and actual story-telling.
Arrange a Visit to Your School! Screen Test
With a deadline almost 6 months away (March 12, 2010), students have ample time to write, produce, shoot and complete a short film for Screen Test.

We love working with schools, and would be happy to make a class visit to discuss the festival, offer inside tips, and show scenes from past Screen Test films.

To arrange a class visit, e-mail Rob Pileckis or call (847) 923-3607.
