presented under the banner Independent
Africa, spotlights 17 African nations, as
they observe 50 years of independence from
colonial rule.
In
My Genes, a documentary that
shares the
lives of eight people with albinism in Kenya, is
one of the films selected to be screened.
Directed by Lupita Nyong'o,

announces its annual open call for proposals
from filmmakers. Proposals are requested for
programs in many genres including
documentary, performance, cultural/public
affairs and animation. Projects submitted to
this solicitation must be intended for
national public television broadcast.

Members of the Pacific Islanders in
Communications filmmaking community are
encouraged to submit proposals for public
television projects at the research and
development (R&D), production, and completion
stages. R&D projects may be awarded up to
$15,000, and production and completion
projects may be awarded up to $50,000.
