World Newsreel mourns the passing of St.Clair
Bourne, a pioneer Black filmmaker. Always
active, both politically and cinematically,
he made films that edified and enlightened
us, while also creating opportunities for
filmmakers of color.
He made over 40 award-winning films, yet was
always approachable and generous with his
knowledge. Saint was willing to sit and talk
to anyone about his or her life and ideas,
and offer his honest, insightful perspective.
A lively discussion always occurred when he
visited the TWN office with his keen sense of
humor and his bright smile. He will be deeply
missed
by us all.
