Greetings!

Over the past year, our Newsletter has moved away from including as much information about CTA's Onsite Trainings because we want to provide more information about special learning topics.  But we are still offering as many live learning opportunities as ever!  We post a list of all events open to the public on our website, and we update that list every month.  For a flavor of what's to come in 2011,
Dr. Perry will be speaking in six of ten Canadian provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, PEI, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan) and in cities in nearly every major region of the United States: Boston; Sacramento; Milwaukee; Burlington, VT; Athens, OH; Seattle; Bismarck; Denver; and Princeton, ME (just to name a few!).  CTA Fellows will also be conducting trainings in Texas, California, and Minnesota.  We would love for you to join us, and we provide updates on new events through Facebook as well as the website list.  If you're not able to attend a training, though, consider our online training options.  A new NMT Training Series begins in April - you'll find information about this series and more in this month's newsletter.

CTA Begins NMT Training with Charles Hall Youth Services
CTA is thrilled to report that interest in our Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics continues to grow, and in February we will begin training with a new site: Charles Hall Youth Services in Bismarck, ND.  Charles Hall works with youth ages 12 to 17 who have been adjudicated into the foster care system for a variety of reasons. Many come from families who are unable to provide adequate care for their teenagers while others are court-ordered
to Charles Hall due to various problems.  A good number of their youth struggle with post-traumatic stress, mental illnesses, or attention deficit disorder, and forty percent of the 100+ youth Charles Hall serves each year are Native American.  The goal of Charles Hall is to develop and provide effective and innovative services to help troubled youth.  The Bismarck Public Schools is part of the collaborative group that is working with Charles Hall and the CTA in this NMT training process.  The inclusion of the education system in this collaborative offers unique opportunities to learn more about the application of the NMT in these settings and to further develop our Neurosequential Approach to Education (NAE) program elements.  We are very excited to begin the NMT training process with Charles Hall and look forward to our collaboration in 2011.

New Articles

Congratulations to CTA's Director of Programs, Dr. Chris Dobson, on the publication of her chapter, co-authored with Dr. Perry, entitled "The Role of Healthy Relational Interactions in Buffering the Affects of Early Childhood Trauma."  This chapter was included in Working with Children to Heal Interpersonal Trauma: The Power of Play (2010) edited by Eliana Gil, a CTA Individual Certification Phase II Participant.

We have also added new articles to the collection on our website's resource library.  Among them is an introductory article on Infant Mental Health and Home Visiting by Pamela Segel, Ed.S., IMHİ-IV, a participant in our Individual Certification program.  We will continue to update our library and populate it with articles that we feel are informative and beneficial to professionals and caregivers on a variety of subjects.
