 The Sophomore Retreat was a big success and lots of fun was had by all! 50 Sophomores along with LHN Faculty members had a great time at Frontier Camp in Grapeland, TX.
|
 The Freshman Retreat was held in Forest Glen Camp in Huntsville, TX. Over 55 Freshman along with Senior Mentors and LHN Faculty had a blast getting to know one another.

ESLP & Project Pride | |
The year has begun, and that means the Exemplary Scholar Leadership Program's annual
Project Pride t-shirt contest is underway!
ESLP Project Pride t-shirts ARE REQUIRED on the Fridays the students of LHN earn the reward to wear jeans and a project pride t-shirt by keeping the school hallways clean for five consecutive days.
All students are welcome to participate by submitting a computer generated design (a design made in any computer program-word, fireworks, photoshop, etc.; no hand drawings please) that encourages students to keep LHN clean.
The winner will be chosen by ESLP members and the prize will be $25 and a free project pride shirt. To submit your design email it to Ryan Volkers.
Deadline for submissions will be
Tuesday August 31st.
ESLP is also looking forward to the addition of new members this upcoming year and continuing its service at LHN. More information will be sent home in letters to sophomores and juniors who have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Those students eligible to apply for ESLP must do so no later than September 10th. In addition, teacher recommendations and a resume will be required and must be turned in to the office or Mrs. Heath by September 29th.

Sr. Caleb Groth - Eagle Scout Award | |
Senior Caleb Groth has earned his Eagle Scout award. On August 3rd, 2010 he passed his Board of Review. His Eagle Project was to refurbish, upgrade and install computers at Turning Point, a facility several organizations (including St. Mark) help to sponsor. Caleb led his group of helpful and friendly volunteers in assembling a fully functioning Computer Lab where the residents will be able to use the computers to improve their skills.

Teacher Feature - Ms. Reed | |
 Help us welcome our newest LHN Faculty Member, Abbie Reed! Ms. Reed graduated from Concordia NE in 2002. She taught 7 years in Saginaw, MI at Valley Lutheran High School, moved to Vail Christian High School in Edwards, CO last year, and moved to Houston this summer. She currently teaches Biology, Chemistry, and Chemistry Honors at LHN and she is also the head cheerleading coach. Ms. Reed enjoy watching sports during her free time, Cubs baseball and Michigan State Basketball are her favorites! She also loves to play trivia based games with friends.
Make sure to say hello to Ms. Reed and give her a warm TEXAS welcome! |
Treat a LHN Teacher/Staff Member! | |
Would you like to volunteer a little time to brighten the day of a teacher or staff member?
Contact Elaine Gumtow to volunteer to provide a birthday treat for one of the following Faculty/Staff members. You will be given a reminder call the Friday before the treat is needed. Treats may be cake, cookies, fruit tray, cupcakes, pie, or any other specialty you might have. The staff enjoys celebrating and you could be the special one to bless them.

Back to School Dance | |
Back to School Dance Saturday August 28th 8pm to 10:30pm LHN Courtyard $7.00 per person
Students must be at dance no later than 9pm to gain admittance. Students must stay till 10:30pm Boys are not allowed to wear earrings. Dress must be appropriate, no spaghetti straps, short skirts/shorts etc.
Dress Casual but nice.
We need parent chaperone volunteers for Saturday night's dance. Sophomore parents who can help should contact Mr. Payne or Mr. Staub. |

Student Pictures - September 1st | |
Student photos will be taken for the yearbook September 1st. All students will have their picture taken but seniors will just be used for their ID. Forms will be in the office for purchasing packages of pictures and can be picked up and turned in the day the pictures are taken.
