Training Tip of the Month: Bike Fit
Bicycling
should be painless except on extremely hard rides, and then only the
working leg muscles might hurt. If you experience pain or numbness
while riding, you almost certainly have a bike fit problem. It may be
common to have other pains, but that doesn't make them normal. If you
experience sore or numb hands or crotch, tight neck muscles, sore
knees, hot or cramping feet, sore low back or any other pain when
riding, there's a good chance an adjustment to your position on the
bike would solve the problem. As an added motivator, many of the
factors that make riding less than completely comfortable also rob you
of power or efficiency, so a good fitting makes you go faster as well. If
you think you may have an issue with bike fit, contact your Wenzel
Coach to set up a fitting or seek out a local, reputable bike fitter.
(Most but not all Wenzel Coaches do bike fits).
