This past July, I listened to the June election report as the City Clerk read the results of the local Hayward City Council election. You may be surprised to know:
 
Despite a population of 153,104*,
there were only 55,234 registered voters in the City of Hayward.
Of these, only 16,690 people actually voted in the June election.
Voter turnout: 30.22 %
 
  WE CAN DO BETTER. Here's a call-to-action: Everybody invite ONE more person to register and encourage ONE more person to vote in the next election.
