50-Year Old Mom Can't See 25-Year Old Son Buying a House
Diana bought her first home with her husband at the
age of 26. When she divorced her husband, she took
on responsibility for the house and ALL the bills that
go along with homeownership. She insists that it IS a
sacrifice that's worth it.
Many of my readers who have grown children can
relate to Diana having grown children who can't be
imagined buying a home even well into their 20's,
unlike decades ago when it was normal to get
married, buy a home and start a family at a young age.
(Stay tuned for
future stories on 20-somethings who bought real
estate!)
Says Diana about buying a home: "Don't let
pride get in the way of what will help you in the long
run." Regarding homebuyer assistance
programs, Diana says, "Don't (be afraid) to
admit to (buyer assistance) programs, take advantage
of them. There WILL be a way you can do it!"

The birth of a child lights the proverbial fire under our
butts to think about the future. Suddenly we think about
where we'll live and what it will take to get there.
My sister (who gave me my first niece on Friday)
sought my guidance on what it would take for her and
my brother-in-law Greg to buy a home.
Where do you and YOUR family want to live?

Right now it makes more sense for my sister and her
husband to rent for a while before buying their first
home. What about you or someone you know?
