We are quickly approaching 9 News Health Fair season. The Parkinson Association is looking for volunteers to attend these events on behalf of PAR. Locations vary from the Metro Denver area to Boulder, Longmont, Mead and more. The 9News Health Fairs are a great way to engage our community during Parkinson's Awareness Month. Education PAR Excellence

The experience of illness, aging, and/or disability challenges families and individuals on a variety of levels - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Hence, it is recognized that ongoing education is required to address the many questions and concerns prompted by these challenging situations. Education PAR Excellence is a series of innovative, provocative, and beneficial programs designed for community members and professionals alike. Please join us for a delicious dinner and lively discussion. We look forward to seeing you there!

Out of Bounds: The Need to Know Your Limits - March 13th
Boundaries are necessary behavioral constructs if we are to have healthy relationships with other people, personally and professionally. We need to be aware of where we end and the other person begins. Boundaries are established to protect both persons, honoring and respecting each individual. Some boundaries are defined by legal mandates while others are defined by mutual consent, assumptions, or cultural norms. Often within organizations the discussion of professional boundaries occurs after a boundary violation that prompts a corrective action. Organizations and individuals are much better served if proactive education is offered to raise the awareness around the need and purpose of boundaries.

New Class Payment System

Throughout 2012 the Parkinson Association plans to expand the exercise and Inspired Expressions classes (Rhythm & Grace, Movin' with Parkinson's and Tremble Clefs) throughout the Denver Metro area. Ideally, by the end of 2012 the following classes will be up and running:
  • Tremble Clefs Denver - East Side
  • Yoga Broomfield
  • Yoga Central Denver
  • Art Classes in the Denver Metro Area (Location TBD)

In order to continually expand the classes we offer, PAR is beginning an affordable payment system for all classes provided by the Parkinson Association. We have already begun charging for many of our newer classes (Tremble Clefs, Rhythm & Grace, Movin' with Parkinson's and High Intensity Exercise). Yoga classes and PAR for the Course exercise classes will be affected by the new structure.

Yoga and PAR for the Course classes will cost $2/class for each participant. Each time you attend a class you will merely write the date of your attendance on a sign in sheet. We will tally all classes you attend and send you a bill the following month. For instance, if you attend four yoga classes and one PAR for the Course exercise class, we will bill you for $10. The payment system for classes will begin on March 1st. You will receive your first bill at the beginning of April.

If there is anything we can do for you or suggestions you have on how PAR can better serve your community, contact Lindsay Vassar at (303) 830-1839 or at

LVassar@ParkinsonRockies.org.
