Dear Friends,

At Unity Care, we are deeply committed to providing our community's most underserved youth and families quality services to meet their emotional, physical and mental well-being.  Despite the impending state budget cuts to Social Services, I believe with your continued support we will continue to meet their growing needs to make a positive impact within the communities we serve.

Thanks to supporters such as yourself 2010 was a great success, we raised funds to give our youth and families a happy holiday season through our Santa's Helper Donation Drive, and entertained hundreds of children and families at the 6th annual Hip Hop Holiday Extravaganza.

PhotobucketDuring the holidays, our staff, board and volunteers hit the ground running, working hard to gather gifts and plan several youth holiday parties for current/former foster youth living in our residential programs and gifts for families in need. Three fun and festive youth holiday parties were hosted in December complete with games, gifts, a warm holiday dinner and activities.

Over $26,000 worth of cash and donated goods were collected such as Christmas Trees, warm clothes, toys, food, household items and gift cards.  As a result, over 500 foster youth and families were touched by your generous support.

Once again, we'd like to thank all of our community partners, donors, volunteers, and staff for making our youth and families' holiday season such a truly blessed and memorable one.

Hip Hop 360's Montgomery Elementary middle school participants gather for a group photo.

Over 50 middle school students from Montgomery Elementary pulled off another impressive and entertaining dance performance at our Hip Hop 360 annual Holiday Extravaganza, Thursday, December 16, 2010.  For months, dance instructors were busy hosting afterschool dance practice sessions, choreographing, coaching, instilling positive teamwork and guidance to participants.

According to Demone Carter, Program Manager, "It was wonderful to see the students' hard work pay off with outstanding performances.  Seeing the joy and excitement on their faces was icing on the cake."

The show also included special performances by the Pik Men Crew and the Y.U.P.P. Youth Choir.  The room was filled to capacity with over 200 family, friends, teachers, and community members in attendance.   Special thanks to the PTA for providing refreshments and snacks during the show.
