Welcome from André Chapman

Dear Friends,

During this past year Unity Care has seen a 60% increase in the number of youth and families in need of critical services. As our economy continues to struggle we can expect more and more families will enter our doors in need. Therefore our teams are working extremely hard to provide the thousands of youth and families with quality supportive services to improve their physical, mental and emotional well-being.

So as the Holiday Season approaches, I recognize that the need is great this year.  But, I have hope, belief and determination that caring individuals like you will open your hearts and your wallets to help the hundreds of youth and families in need.  Our goal is to ensure that every child and family in our care receives a holiday gift.

I am asking you to support our Santa's Helper Donation Drive by making a tax deductible gift today.

Please read further for more exciting news about Unity Care.

Best wishes,

André Chapman

Lacy is a 15 year old teenage girl, who arrived in Unity Care's residential home over a year ago.  She has been in the foster care system for three years and experienced many challenges.  She has no other family except for an older sister.  Her father lives in Santa Clara County, but when she recently tried to visit him, he told her to stay away. As a result, she was extremely sad and it was a very difficult time for her.  Her mother lives in Mexico and is extremely ill, so she is not able to visit Lacy.  Her older sister emancipated from the system, but also chooses not to visit or keep in touch with Lacy.

Without family support, Lacy often feels sad and lonely.  She's is thankful for Unity Care and the staff, but deep down all she wants is a family. She said, "I wake up and I can't say I'm going to school with my mom today."   At times when her housemates return from a weekend visit with their families, she breaks down and cries because she misses her mom.

So as the Holiday Season approaches, hundreds of foster youth like Lacy, who are separated from their families, are often left with a feeling of sadness and abandonment.

We are asking you to help bring a little warmth and happiness to a young person's Holiday Season by making a tax deductible cash contribution.  We cannot stress how critical your donation is for our youth and families in need.  So please consider making a gift online or by mail today!

You may also help by making the cause viral.  Join our Santa's Helper Donation Drive facebook cause page and invite your friends and family to make a child's wish come true.

Unity Care CFO a Finalist for

CFO of the Year Award

Unity Care's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Terry Boyle, has been selected as one of the two finalist for the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal's 2010 CFO of the Year Award in the small non-profit category.

Terry joined Unity Care in August of 2009, and in just over one year, he has dramatically turned the agency's finances around.  As a result of his excellent leadership and financial expertise, Terry has successfully streamlined the agency's accounting methods, refocused deployment of resources, and increased the agency's revenue and cash reserves.

The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal will announce the winner in each of the categories during the annual CFO of the Year Awards on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.
