Greetings!
|
I was presenting at TG09 a transgender conference at UEA earlier in the month and learned of a new publication around considering lower surgery for Trans men. You can download a free copy of it here.
We continue preparations for the relaunch of the Directory and were pleased so many people have renewed and share our excitement about the new developments.
We've also been gathering new Facebook fans: 146 at present. Do join us if you are a member!

Supervision of Sexual Minority Therapy Friday 20th November 2009
|
We are offering our one-day seminar for clinical supervisors to further their knowledge and understanding of supervising therapists working with gender and sexual minority clients.
Since working with sexual minority clients is rarely covered in counselling and psychotherapy training programmes, or supervision trainings, then we think that supervisors working with therapists of all sexualities might appreciate an opportunity to come and discover what is different and what is similar in supervising sexual minority therapy.
This seminar will be facilitated by Dominic Davies, and will be a mixture of some didactic input, discussion and possibly some live supervision if that seems to be useful.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Counselling Project Group Therapists Needed
|
Age
Concern Camden is the lead agency in providing Opening Doors Central London:
Supporting Older Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people. We have received a funding award from
the Home Office to provide counselling to victims of hate crime in the form of
two psycho-educational groups, one for older lesbian and bisexual women and one
for older gay and bisexual men. The groups will focus on being lesbian/gay
in a discriminatory world, and provide support for those who have experienced
discrimination, attack or abuse as a result of their sexual orientation.
The
groups will provide an opportunity for sharing and exploring individual
experience, gaining peer support and a greater understanding of how to look
after oneself and use the support services available.
We
are looking for one lesbian and one gay male therapist, with at least four
years' post-qualification experience and experience of group therapy. The
groups will run once, for approximately four months and will need to finish by
3 April 2010. We expect the groups
to have more than one client in-take as word gets round and more people want to
join.

Free Counselling GMI Partnership
|
For some gay men raw sex is horny, intimate and feels natural. They also worry about the risk of HIV and other STIs. We can offer you a space to talk about safer sex and learn how to reduce risks, regardless of your HIV status or ability to pay. |
|
That's all for this month, thanks for your attention, and please do send us things that have a specific relevance to people working with gender and sexual minority clients. |
