Greetings!
beach

Since it's SO cold, grey and fairly miserable outside, we thought you might appreciate seeing somewhere warm and inviting to begin this newsletter with.

Apologies for the slightly late arrival of this edition of the newsletter, we try to get them out right at the beginning of the month, but had some problems with our ISP and lost our broadband connection for a day or two.

There are still a couple of places left on the Introduction to Psychosexual Therapy weekend training course on 11 - 12 February, for those who have nothing planned for next weekend and want a really interesting and useful way to spend a weekend. Full details in the Training section of the website

Sadly, it looks like we will have to cancel Keith Silvester's Beautiful Souls workshop which is due to take place on 11 March as we've not had sufficient bookings in.

However, the four day Essentials in Sexual Minority Therapy course, which has barely been publicised is already almost full and we're looking at putting it on again in the Autumn, so we must be doing something right, sometimes!

The conference has now been planned and the new conference flyer has been printed. If you want to download a copy to your computer click on the link below and you'll find all the relevant information!

Last year's conference was an enormous success, and we think this year's will be more popular given the range and breadth of the subjects and theoretical perspectives being covered. Early booking is advised!

Outness and Sexual Self-Disclosure in Academia and the Clinic is the subjetc being discussed by Jeffrey Weeks (Professor of Sociology at LSBU); Kathleen Ritter (Professor of Counselling Psychology at California State University and psychotherapist in private practice); Mandy Merck (Professor of Media Arts, Royal Holloway Univ of London).

The seminar will take place in the Manor Lecture Theatre, London Road Building, Southwark Campus of South Bank University from 2pm to 6pm.

Critical Sexology is a London-based, interdisciplinary seminar series for psychologists, psychoanalysts, medical doctors, literary and cultural studies scholars, philosophers, artists, lawyers and historians with a critical interest in the construction and management of gender and sexuality in the medical, discursive and cultural spheres.

Ever need to refer someone in a particular area but don’t know where to send them? Looking to meet other gay/gay friendly therapists who might refer to you? Most therapists and counsellors like to know something about the person to whom they are referring. When a certificate, post-code, or modality isn’t enough, perhaps it’s time for a face to face meeting.

In an effort to promote local familiarity among London’s gay-friendly therapists, I am proposing a semi-facilitated meet-up for interested counsellors and therapists. This would be an opportunity for us to learn a bit more about each other, and feel more comfortable about making and receiving referrals. This would be a non-formal event occurring this spring, in the evening, at a location in Central or North London.

Numbers will be kept limited to about fifteen to allow adequate time to get to know each other – so this will be run on a first come basis. Should I get more interest than that, I’ll consider running a second group. There may be a small charge to cover the costs of any venue hire. If you are interested, please contact Aaron Balick at aaron@n1psychotherapy.co.uk
Loving men IV is an intensive week long residential workshop for gay and bisexual men exploring intimacy, friendship and relationships. It is facilitated by Tim Foskett and Dennis Carney and Alfred Hurst of PACE

The workshop takes place from the 3-10 June 2006 at Laurieston Hall in Scotland. Copies of the leaflet in PDF format are available by emailing: groupwork@pace.dircon.co.uk

Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone else you feel might be interested in receiving it.

With all good wishes,
