Greetings!
Welcome to the May edition of our newsletter. We
are delighted to bring you a sneak preview of some
of the exciting new training workshops we have
planned as well as a short report on our recent
workshop on exploring 'sexual addiction'
We also have lots of external news this month -
thanks for sending things in! - As ever, Pink Therapy
is not in a position to endorse outside events or
organisations, we simply present you the information
that we think may be most relevant to your work
with clients. It is recommended that you, and/or
your clients check things out for yourselves.
Workshop Report |
 |
Last month saw our 'I'm Too Sexy...'
workshop,
which explored the concept of 'sexual addicition' and
looked for more sexuality affirmative ways of
conceptualising and working with gay and bisexual
men who present feeling that their sexual behaviour
is out of control. We have been particularly
concerned to offer alternatives to the addiction
based 12 Step model, which can in many cases
reinforce shame and guilt.
The workshop was so popular, we even had to turn
people away in order to keep the group size one that
was safe and useful enough for people to participate
freely!
We have created an extra section on the
website which has links to other web resources those
who are interested in this subject can follow up with.
(see the link below)
This includes an article by Dermod Moore - who co-
facilitated the workshop with Dominic Davies. In
addition to being a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist,
Dermod also writes a regular column under the
name 'Bootboy.' Deromd wrote up a version of a
presentation he gave exploring the spiritual aspects
to gay male cruising behaviour at the workshop. It's
also listed in the Sex section of the website entitled
Dionysos.

Inspiring gay people to get up and do something different |
 |
On 5 May 2005, after 10 years of bringing gay people
together online,
OUTeverywhere is to re-launch with an emphasis on growing
as a "real world"
membership organisation that gay people join, rather than
purely a website
to sign up and login to. It's a subtle but fundamental shift in
the
perception of OUTeverywhere.
Whatever you're into, wherever you are, OUTeverywhere
offers you the chance
to get in touch with people who share your interests, people
who like doing
the same things you do, people on your wavelength. It's a
non-sexual
membership organisation dedicated to connecting like-minded
gay men and
women.
A zero exploitation policy means that no income is received
from advertising
or the distribution of member's contact details. Relying
entirely on
membership fees ensures that OUTeverywhere remains a
safe community space
for gay and lesbian people where the emphasis is not on sex
or commercial
gain.

Waves - a weekend workshop dancing the 5 Rhythms in Findhorn |

The 5 Rhythms of Gabrielle Roth is a simple practice
designed to release the dancer that lives in everybody, no
matter what shape, size, age or experience. The 5 Rhythms
are: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. They
come together to create a movement meditation practice also
known as The Wave. Whilst the practice itself is the essence
of simplicity, it has the power to catalyse deep healing.
Sat 14th and Sunday 15th May, Universal Hall, Findhorn,
Scotland, Cost £75. Facilitator: Deborah Jay Lewin Tel:

New Training Programme |
|
We've been working hard to put together an
interesting new training programme which will
commence in October. In the light of imminent legal
recognition for Civil Partnership Registration, we are
planning to offer a workshop for lesbian couples and
gay male couples wishing to explore the joys and
challenges of being in committed relationships
(whethere they be open or closed relationships).
In our Professional Workshops programme, we will
relaunch our Essentials of Sexual Minority Therapy 4-
day Certificate course, and we plan to rerun our
successful Introduction to Psychosexual Therapy
with Sexual Minority Clients weekend workshop and
to offer new workshops on working with transgender
and intersex clients; assisting sexual behaviour
change for men who are barebacking and another
new workshop exploring Beautiful Souls -
understanding more about body facism amongst
lesbians and gay men.
We will also be holding our next Pink Therapy
Conference, hopefully in June 06
Full details of these workshops will be announced in
our next newsletter.
