In addition to the dreaded SPAM email - we have recently been getting a number of 'Message Undeliverable' emails from people we've never even heard of, but which have pinktherapy.com as the reply to domain.

These are caused by Trojan Worms - a kind of virus which inhabits someone else's machine and generates the fake emails using addresses in their address book to both send the emails to but where they pretend to come from another person's computer. Clever huh?

You may have been getting similar messages yourself. It may be wise to check you have the latest anti-virus software on your PC's and to schedule regular updates and scans. We do, which is why we're confident these emails are not originating from us.

Incidentally, if you want to cut down the SPAM you receive, and you use Outlook (or Outlook Express) on a PC you may find it helpful to install SPAMFIGHTER which is amazing. Almost as good for the MAC is SpamSieve Both are shareware, although Spamfighter can be used for free.

    Supervision Groups?

A number of my clinical Associate colleagues and I are interested in offering supervision groups to colleagues working with sexual minority clients. These could be regular groups say fortnightly for a couple of hours or longer less frequent one's -i.e. a day or half day every couple of months.

We're just interested to check out the level of interest at this point. If you would like to be in a facilitated supervision group of whatever frequency of meeting or composition of group members, then let us know by email and we can take things further.

To Boldly Go - Another Conference!

Work has already started for our next Conference (Queer Analysis is recruiting well - don't miss out!). To Go Boldly will highlight innovative new developments in sexual minority therapy issues; be an opportunity for recent graduates to present their research or showcase some of the interesting new ideas in sexual minority therapy.

From Theres Fickl: "Julie and myself are looking to set up a Personal Development Group for Counsellors and Therapists in Manchester. Our website is www.personaldevelopmentgroup.org.uk"

Sigma Research and health promotion agencies throughout the UK want to know more about gay men's sex lives through the Vital Statistics online survey. As well as questions about sex between men, this year's survey asks about religion, HIV testing, sexual health check- ups, sex that's paid for and whether you've seen pictured health promotion campaigns from the last year. This survey has been a valuable planning tool for our work at GMFA, so forward this mail to all your friends & tell them to fill it in too. To get to the survey follow the red link at the bottom of www.metromate .org.uk

From Tim Foskett: "Could you let people on the directory know that I have one space in my Gay Men's Therapy Group starting in September. It starts on Sunday 12th Sept (10 am - 5 pm) and then alternate wednesdays evenings from Sept 15th (6.30 - 9.30 pm) until 8th Dec, in Holloway N7. I am away until the 3rd Sept, and propsective partcipants would need to be available for a pre- meeting on Wednesday 8th Sept afternoon or evening, or possibly Thurs 9th Sept. The fee for the term is £225. I will endeavour to get back to people on Sunday 5th Sept. People who are interested to should email me on timfoskett .therapy@virgin.net, saying what they want to work on in a Gay Men's Therapy Group, confirming they can make the dates, and saying what, if any, other group or individual therapy they have done. If they dont have email they can ring on 0208 292 0984 and leave a brief message. I am a UKRC registered counsellor and accredited by AHPP as a Group Therapist.

Essentials and 2yr Post Qualifying Training postponed

We've realised we've been a bit too ambitious in trying to get two major new courses up and running in only six weeks and so have decided to postpone the 4 day Essentials of Sexual Minority Therapy course and the 2 year PQ Clinical Studies in Sexual Minority Therapy programme to allow more time for recruitment. Our apologies to those of you who had booked and we will be in touch shortly with new dates and hopefully better start times!
